WhatsApp messenger to stop its services to many of the Smartphones by the end of 2016

The most popular messenger WhatsApp is going to shut down its services to many of the handsets in India. This application is almost used by 95 percentage users in the country and by the end of 2016, many of them wouldn’t be able to access the services. WhatApp also announced that December 31st would be the last day for all the Symbian and other devices.

“While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they do not offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future,” the report said, quoted a spokesperson from WhatsApp Messenger team.

“As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use,” the spokesperson said.The company has said that several older services would be discontinued in 2017. “For iPhone users, WhatsApp will stop working on any iPhone 3GS and will also stop being supported on any device running iOS 6,” – as reported by Manchester Evening News.

The services for the stopped for the handsets still running on Android 2.1 or 2.2 operating system and also for the devices running on Windows 7 or lesser operating system by the end of 2016. Moreover, iPhone users will also not have any access for its iPhone 3GS and also for devices running on iOS 6 and lower. It will be stopped for any first, second, third and fourth generation iPad that have not been updated. The users need to have or update it to iOS 9.3 to enjoy the services from WhatsApp.

Recently we have seen WhatApp getting Video call support for the supported devices on various platforms. There is also news about the WhatsApp extending its support for BlackBerry OS, Nokia S40, and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017.
