Huawei and Leica to Setup Research & Innovation Lab in Germany
Everyone knows about Leica, which is a premium camera component engineer. Now Huawei and Leica are getting teamed and also announced a joint venture into a new research and innovation center called the “Max Berek Innovation Lab.” This lab is located at Wetzlar, Germany which is also the global headquarters of Leica.
Earlier we have seen both these companies collaborating to put forward the impressive dual-camera on Huawei P9. Now the plan for long-term collaboration is to develop new optical systems and software technologies for improving image quality in Smartphone and other Photographic application. At the lab, there will be researches to expand into computational imaging, augmented reality, and virtual reality solutions.
With the setup of a research center, we can assume that there is going to be a long-term partnership between these two companies and look for further improvements in the camera section. It is unsure if the collaboration of these will continue for the next flagship device from Huawei, but we would love to see that happen.

We might well be seeing a whole new set of cameras in the coming future which could replace the DSLR’s. Well, it is uncertain about the future but considering VR and AR games` like Pokemon Go which almost shook the world.
