Xiaomi to Launch Second Smartphone with Dual Camera Setup on Sep 27th in China
Xiaomi is expected to launch a bunch of new products at the September 27th event in China. One of the products will be the company’s flagship smartphone. There are many leaks and rumors about the upcoming Mi 5s and Mi Note 2 smartphones as the successor to Mi 5 and 2015 launched Mi Note. But as we reported earlier, the Xiaomi China has mentioned that there will be no Mi 5S smartphone in reply to one of its fans on Weibo. Since the company mentioned the device name as Xiaomi _S in the teasers, we can even expect that to be Mi Note S.
Though there is no official confirmation over that, today the company revealed one more new feature about its upcoming device. The device will be featuring dual rear camera setup on the rear, but this is not the first Xiaomi smartphone to sport dual rear cameras. A few months back, the company launched the mid-range Redmi Pro with 13MP + 5MP cameras on the rear. It is priced at 1499 Yuan and sports other high specifications like Full HD OLED Display, Helio X20 SoC, and 4,050mAh battery.
But with the dual camera setup on the upcoming device, we expect the company to offer even better sensors. With the iPhone 7 Plus, Apple introduced the 12MP dual camera on the rear and from now on we can see many Chinese brands to launch their own smartphone with dual cameras. Huawei already has quite a few smartphone under the Huawei and Honor brands, while Coolpad in partnership with LeEco also launched Cool 1 smartphone with dual rear cameras.
Talking about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone, it will be powered by Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor which gives 10% better performance the Snapdragon 820 SoC. As of now, there is no information whether the device will be water resistant or not. However, we may see 3D touch display on this device, the Mi 5 was also expected to feature this technology. Apart from LeEco and OPPO, most of the Chinese brands offered this feature. But there are no apps like on iOS that uses the 3D touch functionality.
It will be running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box with latest MIUI 8 laid on top. Along with 4GB RAM variant, the company will also introduce the smartphone with 6GB RAM for the first time. We guess the company to price both the variants similar to the Le Pro 3‘s pricing of 1799 Yuan and 1999 Yuan for 4GB and 6GB RAM variants respectively. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details about the Xiaomi’s new smartphone!
