OnePlus 3 System Update OnePlus 3 System Update

Earlier Nov 11: OnePlus had launched the OnePlus 3 smartphone in June this year. It is one of the most popular flagship smartphones that are launched in 2016. The device is priced at just $399 and comes with a premium metal body with top-notch specifications. Now the company has confirmed to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update by the end of 2016. On November 15th, the company will be launching a new smartphone called OnePlus 3T. It is an upgraded variant to the OnePlus 3 and is expected to company with the similar design as its predecessor. With the Nougat update, we will be seeing side-by-side multitasking which many Chinese companies already offer with their custom ROM.

The early beta update will be available by the end of this month, and the public release will be sent via OTA update only in December. Earlier, the company used to release the Oxygen OS for the international variants and the Hydrogen OS for the Chinese variants. Recently, the OnePlus is said to merge both these OS for fastening the new developments and software updates. While the LG V20 was launched with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, LG is yet to release the Nougat update for other smartphones. Meanwhile, Samsung is currently testing the beta build of the Nougat update for Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge smartphones.

Talking about the OnePlus 3, it came with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box. Though the device offers stock Android experience, we can find little difference between the Vanilla flavored Android and Oxygen OS. It sports 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor coupled withAdreno 530 GPU & 6GB RAM. It is the only smartphone with 6GB RAM to be sold in global markets. Even though it sports 6GB of RAM, it never uses upto its full potential as the RAM management is limited in return to get better battery life.

There is 64GB fo onboard storage and lacks MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It also includes 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. The Dash Charge fast charging technology gives 60% of battery life in just 30 minutes. Now with the OnePlus 3T smartphone, the 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 SoC will be replaced with the upgraded Snapdragon 821 SoC clocked at 2.35GHz. The physical home button on the front with integrated fingerprint sensor will be continued on to the OnePlus 3T. Though OnePlus 3 will get Android 7.0 Nougat update in December, the upcoming smartphone is expected to run on latest Android OS out of the box.

The battery capacity will be bumped from 3,000mAh to 3,300mAh capacity. The Dash Charge and Optic AMOLED might see minor upgrades. Based on the rumors, the device is expected to be priced around $480 price range. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for official details as the launch event is less than a week away.
