LG V30 to Miss Removable Battery in Favor of Becoming a Waterproof Device
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
LG will be coming with LG G6 smartphone during the MWC2017 to compete against the Samsung Galaxy S8. While last year’s LG G5 is the first device from a major smartphone maker to feature modular features, the company failed to convert that interest into sales. Even the huge success of the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge might have also affected the sales of LG G5. However, the company is expected to drop the modular features from its smartphones at least in 2017. Now the latest news suggests LG to come up with some big changes for LG G6. The dual camera setup on the rear of the LG G5 is rumored to be continued on the LG G6 as well.
While LG has been continuously marketing its removable battery option till date, from now on we might miss that. Recently, LG launched the LG V34 smartphone in Japan that looks similar to the LG V20 but comes in a smaller form factor. The company also made few changes to the LG V34, it came with a non-removable battery and is also waterproof. These are the same features that are rumored to be seen on the upcoming LG G6 as well. Since there is no option of replacing the battery, the device will support wireless charging to give an edge over the competition. Even the LG G6 will also be the first smartphone from the company to support mobile payment technology out of the box.
Samsung used the tape around the devices like Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and Note 7 to make them waterproof. But LG is decided to use the adhesive method to make the device waterproof which is also said to be less expensive than the tape method. Even the LG made Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus displays are also said to use the adhesive method to make their device waterproof. Based on the rumors, we might see optical zoom camera on the back of the device. that might offer 9X zoom. Apart from all these details, we don’t have any information regarding the upcoming LG G6. We can expect the LG G6 to run on Android 7.0/7.1 Nougat with the customized UX UI laid on top.
The LG V20 is world’s first smartphone to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, even before to the Google’s own Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. However, the Pixel smartphones came with Android 7.1 Nougat and also exclusively included the Google Assistant. Just yesterday, the company launched the LG V20 smartphone here in India for Rs. 54,999. It came with a 5.7-inch IPS Quantum display with Quad HD resolution and a 2.1-inch secondary ticker display with 160 x 1040 pixels resolution. The device is powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. It sports 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD cards slot.
On the rear of the device is a dual camera setup featuring 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, OIS 2.0, and laser autofocus. There is also a secondary camera with 8MP sensor on the rear with a wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, it sports a 5MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture and regular wide-angle lens. There is also circular fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the device. With all these powerful specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 3,200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The ES9218 dedicated Quad DAC brings HI-Fi audio output that can be experienced with the premium headsets. Just for this, the company is also offering a premium B&O Play earphones for free with the device.
