Samsung Galaxy S8 may come in 5.7″ & 6.2″ variants with dual curved-edge displays
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Samsung Galaxy S8 is all set to debut in the month of February and at this point, we pretty much have most of the rumors and speculations covered. But as we get closer to the launch date, new reports keeps popping up and we get some or the other new info about this upcoming device from the South Korean smartphone manufacturer. Going by the previous rumors, it is expected that the company will be going for an almost bezel-less design for the Galaxy S8. And on the same lines, according to a new report, it looks like the company will be ditching the flat screens completely in favor of the dual curved-edge displays, which will be available in 2 variants.
Out of the two, one variant of the Samsung Galaxy S8 will carry a 5.7″ display while the other will feature a 6.2″ display which is comparatively bigger. It is also expected that this particular variant will be a bezel-less display with a screen-to-body ratio of above 90-percent which is on the likes of Xiaomi Mi MIX, the concept phone launched by Xiaomi in China. While the news about the company going for edge displays is exciting, most of the analysts are not particularly happy about it. Yes, it makes sense because although the edge displays are more appealing than the flat screens, it often faces some issues like accidental touches and drops which can completely take away from the whole experience of using the smartphone.
Few people are already looking forward to the foldable displays rather than these fancy curved displays. It is expected that the company will be introducing one such phone with a foldable display next month at CES 2017 show floor. Well, if you don’t know how a foldable display will work, there are multiple ways to implement the same. They could either be having a device with a foldable display which will fold outward or also make it face each other which allow it to be safe from damages. Do make a note that these are just initial set of speculations and even if we see a device of this kind, it will take a lot of time for them to make these devices available in the market for the consumers.
With that said, we do hope that Samsung comes up with some unique design or implementation for the Galaxy S8 smartphone. After the end of Note 7 phablet, this is the company’s only chance of getting back on the race of the best smartphones and gaining back some lost reputation over the last few months. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be introduced on February 26th in Barcelona at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event. So if you want to know more about this smartphone then be sure to stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more details on the same.
