The Origin watch has Great looks combined with Smart Tech Capabilities
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
2016 has not been the best for smart watches in particular. We saw some new watches indeed but nothing revolutionary that made us want to go and buy them instantly. So does that mean that they are dead? Well, maybe not, but they are not going to get any attention until there is something revolutionary. But what we have here today is something differnet that might make you turn your heads and want to buy it. This is the new Origin watch. It is the first mechanical watch with smart features just like you would find in smart watches.
Yes, you read that right. This is essentially a mechanical watch that has a Japanese movement to wind itself and doesn’t need charging since it doesn’t have a battery. Its mechanical Japanese movement is alive with 21,600 beats per hour and 24 jewels for superior timekeeping accuracy. It also features Luminous layer over the sweeping hand and has diamond cut indexes at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock position. All this makes it easy to take a look at the time effortless. Okay well, enough about the watch itself. Now let’s talk about something that makes this watch smart right? Yes, the strap.
Huawei Watch Review – Slickest Looking Android Wear Smartwatch so far?
This watch comes with a smart strap which has all electronics in it and makes the watch as smart it is. This smart strap is slim, supple, comfortable and virtually indistinguishable from traditional leather straps. with that, you can simply use the strap for all the smart features and use the entire watch as a smart watch. It connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth technology and uses an app to take advantage of all the features. It syncs wirelessly to the Grayton app and it will automatically reconnect if the watch goes out of the range.
And since the strap is the one which adds all the smart features to the watch, this is what you need to charge instead of the watch. The smart strap has a flip-out USB port at one end that can be connected to any power source including laptop computers. Well, you don’t need to worry about the battery life since two hours of charge will result in a battery life of 10 days. So this is not particularly great but is still way better than using a smart watch which you need to charge every single day.
And onto the most important question of where to buy this product? Well, at the time of writing this, the watch is still in its crowdsourcing stage in IndieGoGo. So if you want to get your hands on one, then you can quickly grab one for as low as $149 or maybe make a group purchase as well. With that said, stay tuned for more info on this as we will update once we have more info on the same.
