10 Valid Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Buy the New Nokia 3310 Phone
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
It’s 2017, and we are now on the verge of a mobile technology revolution where every single day we are seeing some new technological advancement in the world smartphone. From thinnest smartphone to bezel-less madness, we have seen it all till now. However, amidst of all this, the internet is going crazy all over again on a very unusual smartphone, given the time we are living in. Yes, we are talking about the new or rather ‘redesigned’ Nokia 3310 mobile phone. The idea here is to remember the old legend Nokia 3310 for the new generation.
While the new redesigned Nokia 3310 is a great mobile phone which brings back a lot of memories, it might not be a great idea to purchase it now in 2017 after all. Reason? Well, we have about 10 of them to give you a clear idea of what we are trying to tell you here, so go ahead, and read on to know why You Shouldn’t Buy the new redesigned Nokia 3310 Phone.
Forget 4G or the Upcoming 5G, there’s Just 2G
Lately, we have been seeing a lot of reports about the new 5G technology which will bring major advancement. Well, most new smartphones that are now launching in the market are all future proof and comes with support for high download speeds upto 1GBps. But this is not the case with the new Nokia 3310. In fact, 5G is something that you shouldn’t even think since the Nokia 3310 doesn’t even support 3G. You will only get 2G with this phone, and there is only so much you can do with 2G speeds.
It’s a Feature phone and not a Smartphone
The Nokia 3310 as you already know is a Feature phone. Feature phones are not really bad by any means, but there is only so much you can do with a feature phone. The features and functionalities are limited here, and it is practically very difficult to get things done with them as compared to a smartphone. There are are a couple of other feature phones in the market as well with better features and functionalities for a comparatively lower price. So maybe you might want to go for them before making a decision here.
Overpriced at 49 Euros
Well, 49 Euros (Approx Rs 3300) might not seem like a lot of money to pay for a phone, but there are a lot of other phones in the market which can fetch you a lot more than that. In fact, there are smartphones these days which you can buy by putting some extra money and have all the features with you. But if feature phone is what you need, then still there are other feature phones which you can grab for as low as Rs. 1500+.
No Social Networks
The new redesigned Nokia 3310 is running Series 30+ operating system. Although it is close to what we had previously with the original Nokia 3310, we don’t have access to any social media apps. Again, it is a small world of application which we are living in where you can get anything done by basically just performing a few taps. However, none of that will be possible with the Nokia 3310. Well, if you are planning to stay away from Social Media for a couple of days when you are out on vacation, then this is just the right thing for you in that case.
No Chat Apps to take advantage of the T9 text input
Texting is a lot of fun with the T9 text input method, but unfortunately, there is not a lot of platforms on which you can text using the Nokia 3310. Text messages are the only thing which you can send or receive and pretty much majority of the world is not online on the chat messenger apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, etc. Maybe time to reconsider?
Funky Design
Modern day phones designs are getting more and more subtle now, and we are moving over to a bezel-less world of smartphones. But the Nokia 3310, on the other hand, being a feature phone, we can’t expect the same. But what we can expect is a simple yet elegant design that would fit most people’s lifestyle. However, that is not the case with the Nokia 3310. If you take a look at certain colors of the phone, then you might even start wondering if those are some toy phones. Same is the case with most other colors also. They are either too funky or too dull, to begin with. Overall, not a very pleasant design.
Old school keypad is not always the best
Now that we are all used to the QWERTY keyboard on the smartphones, going to back to the alphanumeric keypad is definitely not going to be a very pleasing experience. Yes, you can use T9 text input method but then again, it is still going to take some time getting used, and honestly, it is a thing of past and shouldn’t be something which we experience in 2017.
2MP camera?
The new Nokia 3310 has a 2MP camera at the back, and we all know what a 2MP camera is capable of doing. Selfie enthusiasts, on the other hand, if you are planning on getting it, then forget about taking selfies since there is no front facing camera. Talking about value for money, this certainly doesn’t fall into that category.
Wait for Jio’s feature rich 4G phone
If you have been following the news, then you might already know that there are reports about Jio’s new feature-rich 4G phone. That particular device is expected to sport a lot of features and functionalities which will definitely give the Nokia 3310 a run for its money.
Final Thoughts
After all this, it should be crystal clear as to why you should not be buying the new Nokia 3310 phone after all. It looks more like a PR tool for Nokia. They have been charging a premium for their smartphones lately and this is just another one from them. If you go back and see the Nokia 3310, you know that was one beast of a phone and was totally worth every single rupee you spent on it. But the same can’t be said about this one and maybe it has a lot to do with the time of the release of this. But that said, the new Nokia 3310, although sounds like a cool phone to use, is not really worth the money.
As far as Snake game goes, which most people will comment about, is also not really a huge selling factor. Let’s face it, how long are you going to keep playing the Snake game for? So let us know what do you think about this? Do you really feel that the Nokia 3310 is a worthy purchase or do you agree with the points given above.
