Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 to Launch With a Smaller Battery & Lower Price Tag
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
With the huge success of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 7 in the second half of 2016 with top notch specifications and innovative features. Though the device mostly received positive reviews, the users who purchased during the initial sale days experienced a huge problem with the device. The 3,500mAh non-removable battery kept exploding, and many incidents were reported from all over the world. Though the company relaunched the device with minor fixes, the explosions haven’t stopped. Almost all the airways banned the usage of the Galaxy Note 7.
Even the special announcements about the Galaxy Note 7 might have brought the damage to Samsung’s brand value. A month after all these incidents, Samsung officially pulled out all the Galaxy Note 7 devices from the market. The users who bought the Galaxy Note 7 got a complete refund or Galaxy S7 Edge combo offer. Last month, there are leaks revealing the possible relaunch of the exploding Galaxy Note 7. Now, the company officially confirmed the launch of refurbished Galaxy Note 7 in order to reduce and minimize any environmental impact.
The device might also get a new name, and few specifications will be changed from the original Galaxy Note 7. With all these negative news about the Galaxy Note 7, we also expect to see a smaller price tag when compared to the launch price of $850. Samsung confirmed this upcoming device will not be sold in the U.S. Coming to the other markets; the company will be working with local authorities and carriers to sell it as a refurbished device. The availability of this device will be very limited as the company needs to get a permit in order to sell the refurbished goods.
Samsung’s own investigation team confirmed the design fault of the battery is the main cause for these incidents. Now, the refurbished devices will feature smaller battery capacity in order overcome the initial flaw in the design. Earlier, the company also limited the maximum charging level to 60% on the Note 7 devices through an OTA update. During its keynote presentation at the MWC 2017 event, the Greenpeace protestors also interrupted to demand the company’s plans to recycle all these recalled devices. We expect the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 to launch here in India, stay tuned on PhoneRadar for the official launch date & other information.
