OPPO’s Chinese Employee Tears Indian Flag, Protests outside Noida office
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
The doors at the Oppo Noida unit were shut down as protestors started storming in huge numbers to protest against the Chinese official. The reports from the newsrooms say that an employee of Chinese origin at the company’s Noida unit allegedly tore an Indian flag and threw it in a dustbin. Reacting to this, around 2,000 Oppo employees started showing their aggression and started a protest along with members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
According to the reports which we have, it looks like three Oppo employees had filed a complaint against the Chinese employee who disrespected the flag. As of now, it looks like the police have not arrested anyone in connection to this case. However, the company has fired the Chinese employee who was accused of throwing the flag. The protestors who had gathered outside the Oppo’s Noida unit demanded to arrest the accused Chinese employee and take strict actions against him.

The nearby residents also joined the agitators by waving the National Flag. Soon after this, it was reported that a FIR had been lodged against the accused employee, for disrespecting the National flag. ASP Gaurav Grover told that the FIR had been lodged under The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act. The company also released an official statement which said that they are paying serious attention to this issue and they deeply regret this incident. The company has assured to extend their co-operation to the concerned authorities and will take appropriate action.
Oppo also stated that the company is strongly rooted as well as localized in India and also stated that about 99% of their employees are Indians. Having said that, it is shocking to see such incidents taking place. Also, this is not the first time that we are witnessing something like this. Earlier this year, Amazon Canada was also spotted selling door mats bearing the Indian Tricolour flag. Reacting to that, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj took the matter in her hands and warned the e-commerce retailer. Post this, the company had withdrawn the products.
