After disrupting the Sub-Rs. 10,000 price segment, Chinese smartphone manufacturers are now more focusing at a slightly higher price bracket. We have a few devices launched in the month of March and interestingly, most of these devices are sold through offline retailers. All the below-mentioned devices support 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and can be used with the Jio 4G SIM.
Gionee A1 – Rs. 19,999
As teased earlier, Gionee launched the camera-centric Gionee A1 and A1 Plus smartphones at the MWC 2017. In less than a month after announcing the device, the Chinese company launched the Gionee A1 smartphone in India for Rs. 19,999. The device is assembled in India under the ‘Make in India’ campaign. It comes with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display offering Full HD resolution. Under the hood is the year’s old Helio P10 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Interestingly, the Gionee A1 runs on Amigo UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Talking about the camera sensors on this device, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 16MP front camera for selfies. Gionee is also offering LED flash for both the front and rear cameras. This is also the company’s first Gionee smartphone to feature front-facing home button with fingerprint sensor. With all these specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 4,010 non-removable battery. The device will be sold across India through offline retail stores and will be available in Gold, Black and Grey color options.
Nubia Z11 Mini S – Rs. 16,999
Last year, Nubia launched the Nubia Z11 Mini smartphone with metal built body and decent mid-range specifications. Now, the company came with an upgraded variant called Nubia Z11 Mini S. This new device is priced at Rs. 16,999 and comes in an all-black metal body color with curved antenna bands. The Nubia Z11 Mini S sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass protection. Unlike the Nubia Z11, the Z11 Mini S comes with bezels on either side of the display. It is powered by Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The USP of the device is its 23MP sensors on the rear with PDAF and Sapphire glass lens. On the front is a 13MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. The 3,000mAh non-removable battery keeps the Z11 Mini S running at least for one complete day. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the highly customized Nubia UI 4.0 laid on top. There are dual SIM card slots on this device and offers all the basic connectivity options including 4G VoLTE. The device is exclusively sold through Amazon India.
Apple iPhone SE – from Rs. 19,999
Just before announcing the 32GB and 128GB storage variants of the iPhone SE, a huge price cut was announced for the 16GB variant. The device is currently retailing for Rs. 21,499 without any offers, but the effective price is coming down to Rs. 19,999 after adding the cash back and other offers from the retailers. The iPhone SE looks exactly same as the iPhone 5S and but sports upgraded internals. It runs on iOS 9 and is eligible for iOS 10 update. The software support can be expected at least for another couple of years. Under the hood is the Apple A9 Chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. There is a 12MP sensor on the rear and a 1.2MP sensor on the front. The Touch ID enhances the security of this device and can be used for Apple Pay once it is launched in India. It comes in Space Grey, Gold, Rose Gold, and Silver color options. The new 32GB and 128GB variants of the iPhone SE be available in stock from next month. The 32GB variant will be priced at Rs. 27,200 whereas the 128GB comes with a price tag of Rs. 37,200.
Lava Z25 – Rs. 18,000
Lava unveiled the new Z-series by launching the Z10 and Z25 smartphones. The Z25 comes with a metal built body and the design looks similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. It is priced at Rs. 18,000 and comes with mid-range specifications. Unlike the Chinese manufacturers, Lava will be more concentrating on the offline market. The Lava Z25 comes in Champagne Gold and Grey color. On the front, is a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD resolution. It is powered by 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The user can further expand the storage as the Z25 comes with MicroSD card slot. It runs on Star OS 3.3 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In the camera department, there is a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for using the Jio 4G SIM. It is backed by a 3,020mAh non-removable battery and comes with Power Saver and Super Power Saver mode to extend battery life by optimizing the performance. Beneath the protruding rear camera is a circular fingerprint sensor that can unlock the device in just 0.16 seconds.
LG Stylus 3 – Rs. 18,500
LG Stylus 3 is the company’s latest smartphone to launch in India. Though the company is yet to announce the availability of the LG G6 here in India, it has launched quite a few budget smartphone in this new year. Talking about the Stylus 3, it is the successor to the last year’s Stylus 2 and comes with built-in precision tip stylus. It is priced at Rs. 18,500 and comes with a large 5.7-inch HD display. Under the hood is the same MediaTek MT6750 SoC which also powers the above mentioned Lava Z25. It includes 3GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. There is also a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front camera. The power button is placed on the rear and also features the fingerprint sensor. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. As it comes with a stylus, LG is also offering in-house features like Pop memo, Capture +, Pop Scanner, and Quick Memo. The LG Stylus 3 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE along with other basic connectivity options. It is backed by a 3,200mAh battery that can give a day-long battery life.
