Andy Rubin Teases Essential’s bezel-less Smartphone running Android
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
The Father of Android, Andy Rubin is said to be working on a new smartphone and yesterday we got our very first look at the device (at least a small corner). Andy tweeted out earlier yesterday where he posted an image of a smartphone with a bezel-less display. Taking a look at the image, as you can see that there is not much to work with since he literally just showcased the top corner of the display. However, there are a couple of things which you can note from the image.
As you can see from the image attached below the smartphone which we are looking at has a near bezel-less display. Although we can see only the top corner of the smartphone, it looks identical to Xiaomi‘s Mi Mix which debuted a couple of months back in China. Now it is also confirmed that this upcoming smartphone from hardware startup Essential will run Android OS. The stock icons that are visible at the top corner confirms the same. Hence this puts an end to all the speculations circulating the internet.
Since we don’t a complete visual of the device, it is hard to claim if the smartphone will have absolutely no bezels or it will go with a similar approach as Xiaomi did with the Mi Mix by keeping the bottom bezels. If the rumors are something to go by, then the smartphone will pack a display larger than 5.5″, however, the overall footprint of the device will be smaller due to the bezel-less design here. It is also expected that it will sport a 3D Touch-like technology for the display wherein the display will be able to sense varying levels of pressure.
I'm really excited about how this is shaping up. Eager to get it in more people's hands… http://pic.twitter.com/LRzQCFSKTm

Talking about the build quality, the smartphone is said to feature metal edges and ceramic back, however, we can’t comment on the same looking at the image. The device is said to be manufactured by Foxconn and it is expected that it will see the light of the day sometime during this year. This smartphone will definitely give a tough competition to the flagship offerings from the likes of Apple, Google, etc. And if it is priced appropriately, then let’s just say the big names in the industry will have something to fear in the market.
With that said, be sure to let us know what do you think about this smartphone? Would you be interested in a bezel-less smartphone like this or would you rather stick to the conventional design. Let us know by dropping a comment down below and also stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info on this.
