Google announces YouTube TV, A $35/month Cable TV service in U.S
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Google has announced a new service called the Youtube TV, at an event in Los Angeles yesterday. This service will be available in the U.S. It is nothing but an internet based television service that offers access to local broadcast networks which includes ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW. This will be added to a bunch of other cable networks and for a sum of $35 per month. The service will be available as a standalone app which users will be able to subscribe to.
The subscription charge of $35 per month for the YouTube TV covers for a total of six accounts. Hence each of the accounts will get recommendations on TV shows based on what they usually like to see, etc. And on top of that, you can watch upto three streams at a given time, so you don’t have to worry about missing out on a show if someone else is watching something. And yes, not to forget about the YouTube Original shows, as they will also be available for YouTube Red subscribers.
The app, on the other hand, is quite simple and functional. One of the highlighted features of the app is that you can store unlimited episodes of your favorite shows with Google’s cloud stirage. But be sure to catch up on them quickly as they will be there for about nine months. And not that it is paid, but each account can have their own cloud storage. There is also an integration between the service and Google Chromcast, Google Home and other cast enabled devices.
However, it has been reported that the YouTube TV has its own cons. First of all, it lacks a bunch of major cable networks in its service like CNN, TNT, AMC, Comedy Central and premium channels like HBO. While it is expected that these services will be added in a later period, as of now this is what we get for $35. Although the YouTube Red shows will be available, there is no word on the ability to get rid of the ads or offline content access, etc. With that said, the company plans to launch the service on Android as well as iOS and you should be on a lookout for the official app if you want to subscribe to this.
Let us know what do you think about this new service from Google. Do you think it will make people want to switch from their regular satellite cable TV operators? Be sure to let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more such info.
