The 2017 flagship smartphones from most of the major manufacturer are launched here in India. Now, we even have a smartphone equipped with 8GB of RAM which even most of the laptops are missing. However, a couple of newly launched devices are yet to be made available in the Indian market and we expect them to see in the coming weeks. Moto Z2 Play – Rs. 27,999
The Moto Z2 Play from Motorola is the company’s latest smartphone in the semi-modular Moto Z series. It is the successor to Moto Z Play which is known for its long-lasting battery life. Interestingly, the new Moto Z2 Play comes with a slightly smaller 3,000mAh battery, but the company mentioned the device can be charged from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes using the TurboCharge technology. On the bottom rear of the device, we can find the 16-pin connector for magnetically attaching the Moto Mods. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device comes powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB of RAM. There is also 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded using the MicroSD card slot. The Moto Z2 Play sports a 12MP rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, laser autofocus, and dual tone LED flash. The 5MP selfie shooter also comes equipped with a dual tone LED flash and features the wide-angle lens. Talking about the pricing, it comes with a price tag of Rs. 27,999 and is sold via offline and online stores.
OnePlus 5 – Starting from Rs. 32,999
As announced earlier, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5 in India exclusively through Amazon India. This new device comes with dual camera setup and competes with the other major flagship device in terms of specifications. The company still continues to offer Full HD resolution even in 2017 and the device sports a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor built using the 10nm FinFET process. The device comes with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB non-expandable storage. It sports a 20MP Monochrome sensor and 16MP RGB sensor on the rear and offers 2X lossless zoom as seen on the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. However, the device lacks the OIS but at least comes with EIS. There is also a 16MP sensor on the front of the device for selfies and video calls. The OnePlus 5 comes backed by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery and supports Dash Charge technology. The 6GB of RAM variant is priced at Rs. 32,999 and comes in Slate Grey color, whereas the high-end variant with 8GB of RAM costs Rs. 37,999 and will be available in Midnight Black color.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium – Rs. 58,995
At the MWC 2017, Sony announced the Xperia XZ Premium as the world’s first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC. However, it went on sale only after the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. In June, the company brought its ultimate flagship device to the Indian smartphone market with a price tag of Rs. 59,990. The Xperia XZ Premium comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back of the device. It sports a 5.5-inch HDR Triluminos display with 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution. The Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor on this device comes coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. In the camera department, the Xperia XZ Premium has a 19MP rear camera with hybrid autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. It can even record slo-mo videos at 960 FPS. On the front is a 13MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The 3,230mAh non-removable battery keeps the device powered on and supports Quick Charge 3.0 using the USB 3.1 Type-C port. It runs on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the Xperia UI laid on top. This dual SIM device is also water and dust resistant, thanks to the IP68 certification.
HTC U11 – Rs. 51,990
After launching the HTC U Play and U Ultra smartphones under the new U series, the company launched a third device called HTC U11. It is now made available in India for Rs. 51,990 and comes with the new Edge Sense technology where we can squeeze the sides for certain tasks. As seen with the earlier HTC U devices, the new HTC U11 also comes with the super glossy finish. The device sports a 5.5-inch Super LCD 5 display with Quad HD (2560 x 1460 pixels) resolution and there is also Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The Snapdragon 835 processor on this device comes coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device is also water and dust resistant with the IP67 certification. In the camera department, there is a 12MP camera on the rear with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, and dual-tone LED flash. For selfies, there is a 16MP camera on the front. It is powered on by a 3,000mAh battery that is rated to last longer than a day of usage. It supports last-gen QuickCharge 3.0 fast charging technology instead of the latest QuickCharge 4.0. The HTC U11 comes in Amazing Silver and Brilliant Black color options.
Honor 8 Pro
Back in March 2017, Honor launched the Honor 8 Pro in China as an upgraded version of the popular Honor 8. Now, the company has brought the Honor 8 Pro to the Indian market, while the all-new Honor 9 was already launched in China. The Honor 8 Pro comes with an all-metal unibody design which makes the devices tougher against the drops. It sports a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display and comes powered by 2.4GHz Kirin 960 octa-core processor. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 and support dual SIM dual standby. On the rear is a dual camera setup featuring 12MP RGB sensor and a 12MP Monochrome sensor. For selfies, there is also an 8MP camera on the front with a wide-angle lens. The fingerprint sensor on the Honor 8 Pro can be found on the rear of the device. It is backed by a 4000mAh non-removable battery that should easily give a day long of usage. Unlike the Honor 8, the new Honor 8 Pro offers 4G VoLTE connectivity for using with the Jio 4G SIM. It measures 157 x 77.50 x 6.97 mm and weighs almost 184 grams.
