Oppo Surpasses HTC In July’s Smartphone Vendor Rankings In Taiwan
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
If you have been following the news lately, then you probably already know that HTC is slowly getting back on track with its latest launch i.e. U11 smartphone. However, if you thought that this would be enough to keep the company on the top in the rankings, then, unfortunately, you were wrong, because it looks like HTC is falling behind in its home country itself.
Yes, you read that right. Although the sales figures look a bit better than the previous years, HTC is still in deep trouble and the latest report tells us how badly the company has been affected. The smartphone vendor rankings for the month of July in Taiwan are out and the results are rather surprising. HTC has now fallen to the fifth position and to our surprise, the company which pushed HTC back is none other than the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo. For most people, this might not be a big deal, however, the fact that HTC has fallen down in their home country is indeed a huge deal and definitely something that the company should be concerned about.
Also, talking about the other position, the third place is taken by ASUS, which is again a Taiwanese manufacturer. The first and the second places a taken by Samsung and Apple respectively. Well, if you are wondering how Oppo slipped into the fourth position, it is mostly due to the fact that the company recently launched the new Oppo R11 smartphone. The Oppo R11 is the company’s flagship and in fact, it is a good offering when compared with the overpriced HTC U11. This also explains why Oppo R11 is the company’s top selling smartphone last month in the country.
It is also worth noting that the sales of HTC U11 have gone down by 10-percent worldwide over the month of June. In fact, the source also notes that despite being in the third position of the list, ASUS is also facing some serious financial difficulties. It has been reported that the company’s shares were hit hard and this is why the company had to delay the launch of ASUS ZenFone 4 smartphone as well. With all that being said, we would like to know your thoughts on this. What do you think HTC should do in order to get back into the market?
