Gionee has introduced the new A-series and X-series smartphones in 2017. More than the home market, the China-based company is more focusing on the foreign markets with these two new series. Recently, the company has launched the Gionee X1 smartphone in India for Rs. 8,999. In the coming weeks, Gionee is also expected to launch the Gionee X1s with much better camera sensors. Talking about the Gionee smartphones in China, the new leaks revealed the Gionee M7 with the almost bezel-less design.
A few of the major smartphone manufacturers including Xiaomi, Samsung, and LG already introduced the smartphones with minimal bezels and longer aspect ratio. In the coming week, we expect to see few more Chinese brands to jump on the bezel-less bandwagon in 2017. Huawei upcoming Mate 10 will offer the bezel-less display with the pro variant. In India, Vivo has sent out the press invites for the launch of the Vivo V7+ smartphone on September 7th in Mumbai. The image on the invite suggests the device to sport two-sided bezel-less display.
The upcoming Gionee M7 was earlier spotted on the benchmark listings revealing the key specifications. Now, the front design of the device was accidentally leaked via a TVC of the Gionee sponsored TV series aired on one of the Chinese channels. The top bezel sports the earpiece, front camera, and sensors. Unlike many other bezel-less smartphones, the Gionee M7 comes with a front facing fingerprint sensor. The recently launched Sharp Aquos S2 also came with the fingerprint sensor placed beneath the display.
On the rear is a large black strip holding the rear camera along with LED flash. The GFX benchmark listing revealed the device to come with a 6-inch display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The LG Q6 and Q6 Plus smartphones with 5.5-inch FullVision 18:9 display also came with the Full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, the Gionee M7 is backed by MediaTek MT6758 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz. It comes coupled with Mali G71 GPU and 6GB of RAM. There is also 64GB of onboard storage on this device.
It runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with the Amigo UI laid on top. In the camera department, there is a 16MP sensor on the rear with autofocus and LED flash. The rear camera on the Gionee M7 can record videos in 4K resolution. On the front is an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calls. With the NFC support, the smartphone can be used for authorizing payments via WeChat and AliPay in China. Since the Marathon series (M-series) is known for offering longer battery life, the Gionee M7 might come at least 5,000mAh battery capacity. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
