Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro Launched with Built-in GPS, 5 ATM Water Resistance & Swim Tracking

Samsung’s latest fitness band, Gear Fit 2 Pro is the successor of last year’s Gear Fit 2. The new Gear Fit 2 Pro sports almost the same hardware as seen on its predecessor. The major improvement is the upgraded water resistance from IP68 certification to 5 ATM. With the 5 ATM water resistance, the Gear Fit 2 Pro is safe to use under water up to 50 meters deep. The other major change is the clasp-fastening system on the band which will be difficult to fall off, mainly under water.
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro comes in Black and Red color options and both have different textures on the band. It the same 1.5-inch curved Super AMOLED display as seen on its predecessor. The fitness band runs on Tizen OS and is compatible with selected Android and iOS smartphones. It is also MIL-STD-810G certified which means the band can withstand wide-range of environments. It also has Spotify app with offline mode for standalone music streaming.
With the auto activity detection feature, this new fitness band can automatically differentiate between the different activities like walking, running, cycling and performing dynamic activities like dancing or basketball. The user can also fine tune the fitness band based their own wellness plan with customized goals and alerts. Apart from the in-house innovations, Samsung also partnered with Speedo to provide industry leading swim tracking with the Gear Fit 2 Pro fitness band.
With the 5 ATM Water Resistance and pre-installed “Speedo On” swim tracking app, the Gear Fit2 Pro gives information including the lap count, lap time and stroke type. It also continuously monitors the heart rate and features built-in GPS sensor. With the social, the Gear Fit 2 Pro users can follow other swimmers and take part in challenges and share achievements. The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro costs $199 (approx 12,750) and will be available to pre-order starting today.
