Samsung To Announce The New Gear S Smartwatch On August 30th At IFA

Samsung is all over the news today, all thanks to an exceptional launch event and a more exceptional smartphone, the Galaxy Note 8. Well, none the less, the Galaxy Note 8 is indeed a great smartphone and it certainly needs all the attention. In fact, we have already covered a detailed write-up on the same which you can read on our website. However, on a parallel news, a Samsung executive confirmed that the company will be launching the new Gear S smartwatch very soon.

Yes, you read that right. Samsung mobile president, DJ Koh, confirmed that the company will unveil the new watch at IFA 2017 show floor in Berlin. In case, you are wondering about a date, then let us inform you that it is set to happen on August 30th, which is not really a long time to wait. As of now, we don’t exactly know as to what the company will be calling this, however, we are hoping that it will be called the Gear S4 which makes sense since it is a successor to the last year’s Gear S3, which by-the-way is a great smartwatch. It is also worth noting that this launch event is going to happen in the month of August which is definitely earlier than Apple’s alleged launch event that is scheduled to happen in the month of September. So, this should give them a head start and get going with the sales/ pre-orders before the new Apple Watch is announced. However, apart from this, Samsung’s mobile president did not really give out much about the watch itself.

Having said that, it is also worth noting the fact that Samsung announced the Gear S3 smartwatch in the month of August last year as well, which is exactly a year ago. However, the sales of the Gear S3 started by the month of October and hence we won’t be surprised if same will the case this year as well. Meanwhile, we few people are also wondering about the new Gear Fit 2 Pro fitness band. It looks like both will go on sale together.
