Unreleased Nvidia Shield Portable 2 Gaming Tablet Spotted In A Pawn Shop
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Remember the classic Nvidia Shield Portable gaming tablet from 2013? Yes, that was probably the only portable tablet contraption which made it big in the market. Soon after its launch, there were rumors about a possible successor to that, which was supposed to be an upgraded version with better internals and a refined button payout, etc. However, the rumors quickly died and no one heard anything about them after that. But wait, it looks it wasn’t dead after all.
Apparently, one lucky Reddit user accidentally stumbled upon a device which appears to be a prototype of the classic Nvidia Shield Portable. That too, the user claims that he discovered the product in a pawn shop in a small Canadian city. And taking a look at all the images, it certainly does look like a successor to the original Nvidia Shiel Portable. And for those of you don’t know what a Nvidia Shield Portable gaming tablet is, it is a portable gaming contraption which comes with a controller as well. It is easy to carry around since it has a folding display, etc.

The new one which was spotted in a pawn shop also looks more or less the same. It has a better button layout. The display is also quite large in comparison and it looks like the internals is also upgraded. In fact, it has been reported that this is pretty much the same prototype which was spotted at the FCC, a couple of months back. And talking about the FCC listing, it was listed to be powered by the Tegra X1 processor.
As far as the tablet itself is concerned, the internals is quite similar to what the newly launched console from Nintendo i.e. Switch has. This, in fact, tells us exactly why the Nvidia Shield Portable 2 never made to the market. After all, it would have been the Switch killer which Nintendo would have never wanted in the market in the first place. Now, most of you would argue on this since the Nvidia Shield Portable 2 itself is a mainstream product and it isn’t anything like the Switch. However, the overall idea of portable is pretty much the same.
Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this. Do you think Nvidia should have launched this worthy successor to the original Shield Portable? Be sure to let us know by leaving a comment down below.
