OnePlus has now made the OnePlus 5 smartphone official. In India, customers can buy the smartphone for 32,999 INR for the 6GB RAM variant whereas, the 8GB RAM variant is priced at 37,999 INR. The smartphones are already available to purchase from Amazon India. However, you are planning to buy this smartphone, then there is a useful bit of information which you need to know before making a purchase decision. The good folks over at MyFixGuide took a OnePlus 5 smartphone apart and found out some interesting details about the smartphone.
The OnePlus 5 smartphone has received a lot of criticism over the past couple of months that it is a copy of the iPhone 7 Plus. However, this teardown which MyFixGuide did tells us that the OnePlus 5 is not just a copy from the outside. During the disassembly process, it was found that the systematic sealing design which is similar to how a few other manufacturers also make their devices. Manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Oppo, etc. also use the same method in their assembly process. Even so, it has been reported that internally the OnePlus 5 does have some weak points.
The Dual camera system which the OnePlus 5 smartphone has lacks the double sided adhesive from the inside. Having a two-sided adhesive is a common practice which the OnePlus 5 lacks here. This makes replacing the camera module an easy task. Also, the battery and the motherboard are not covered with Graphite stickers which leave them exposed. The battery has two-sided adhesive sealing it nice tight. The metal shield is directly welded to the motherboard of the device making it difficult to reach to the internal chip. The display on the OnePlus 5 is also the same as that of the OnePlus 3 and 3T, however, minor changes have been made to the quality.
Overall, to sum this up, the OnePlus 5 appears to be a well-built device except for the few weak points that can’t be ignored. Obviously, the company has made certain decisions to cut down the overall cost of the production. And it is also worth noting that, for an end user, these things might not matter since an average day-to-day is not going to sit and take his/ her smartphone apart. Let us know your thoughts on this.
