Next week, Lenovo will be launching the new Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphones in the Indian market. Unlike the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, both these new devices will be exclusively sold through Flipkart. However, now the company also launched a new entry-level smartphone called Lenovo Vibe B for the offline market. It is priced at Rs. 5,799 and comes with polycarbonate shell. It has a textured finish on the back that offers nice grip to this small device. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Vibe UI laid on top. There are thick bezels all around the display, and the bottom bezel holds the three capacitive navigation buttons.
The Vibe B comes with a smaller 4.5-inch display offering FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6735M quad-core processor clocked at 1.0GHz and coupled with Mali T720 MP1 GPU. It packs 1GB of RAM and just 8GB of internal storage out of which the OS and pre-installed bloatware apps further decrease the available storage to the end user. Lenovo is also offering a separate MicroSD card slot for expansion of storage additionally up to 32GB. It is powered by a 2,000mAh removable battery that is rated to deliver 11 hours of talk time and lasts up to 7 days on standby mode.
Talking about the cameras, there is a 5MP fixed focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera for selfies and video calls. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE only on any one of the two slots. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The single loudspeaker on the Vibe B can be found on the bottom rear. It measures 132.5 x 66 x 9.9 mm and weighs 144 grams. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge of the device. It comes in Matte Black and Matte White color options.
At this price range, there are much better alternatives from the Indian smartphone manufacturers like Intex and Swipe. At the Rs. 6,999; Xiaomi Redmi 3S offers metal built body along with 5-inch HD display. It packs 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage, and a whopping mAh battery. There are also 13MP and 5MP cameras on the Redmi 3S which offer better results than the Vibe B with 5MP and 2MP cameras.
