Vivo Y53 Smartphone launching with Snapdragon 425 SoC & 2GB RAM at Rs 9999

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Update: According to our exclusive source we have been told that Vivo will be launching the Y53 Smartphone in India tomorrow at a price of Rs 9,999. The Smartphones USP is the budget hardware offering at a budget pricing that’s comparable to other smartphones like the Nokia 6 that was recently re-announced the Mobile World Congress.

Vivo launches its latest 4G smartphone, Vivo Y53 today in Malaysia. The device is priced at MYR 699 (approx $155 / Rs. 10,500) and comes in Crown Gold and Space Gray colors. The device sports a unibody metal design and looks similar to the Vivo Y55L. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the highly customized FunTouchOS 3.0 laid on top. However, we can find the side-by-side multitasking option which is introduced by default with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. Talking about the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update, we don’t think the company will update the FunTouch OS anytime soon.

While almost all the Chinese manufacturers are offering fingerprint sensor at this price, the Vivo Y53 priced higher than Rs. 10,000 still lacks it. It sports a 5-inch display that offers qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution. The device comes powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. The Vivo Y53 also packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded upto 256GB via MicroSD card slot. Unlike most of the recent smartphones, Y53 comes with dual SIM card slots and also an additional MicroSD card slot.

The company is also offering Eye Protection mode that can be enabled to filter out the harmful blue light. Talking about the cameras, there is an 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front is a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and supports screen flash. It is backed by a 2,500mAh non-removable battery that can give decent battery life considering its less powerful specifications. The Vivo Y53 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers connectivity options like 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, USB OTG, FM Radio, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.

There are also few bloatware apps like Facebook, Google Duo, and Whatsapp which further decreases the available storage. It measures 144.2 x 71.4 x 7.64 mm and weighs 137 grams. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. While the Vivo Y53 is now launched in Malaysia, soon we will be seeing this device in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, and India. In India, the company is also expected to launch the Vivo Y66 smartphone which was first launched in China in December last year.

Compared to Vivo Y53, the Vivo Y66 comes slightly better specifications and might also cost on a higher side. Externally the device looks same as the earlier launched Y series smartphones. It sports a 5.5-inch HD display and includes Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The Vivo Y66 sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. It is powered by a 3,000mAh battery and supports QuickCharge 2.0 fast charging technology. While there is no information about the exact launch date for both the devices in India, we can expect them to be made official in the next few weeks.
