Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 to Feature Helio P25 SoC & Dual Rear Cameras
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Xiaomi launched a new smartphone called Redmi Pro in China last year. It is the first Xiaomi smartphone to feature dual rear cameras and is priced on par with the Redmi Note series. While the device was later made available in few Southeast Asian countries, it wasn’t launched in India as it comes powered by MediaTek chipset. While there are rumors about the launch of Redmi Pro 2 from the last couple of months, now we got new details about this upcoming smartphone. As the flagship Xiaomi Mi 6 launch is already delayed, the company might launch the Redmi Pro 2 smartphone in the next couple of weeks.
Unlike the Mi 6, the Redmi Pro 2 features mid-range specifications and will continue to offer dual lens camera as on its predecessor. It came in two variants using Helio X20 and Helio X25 deca-core processors. Now, the upcoming Redmi Pro 2 is expected to use the 64-bit MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz and coupled with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Even this particular chipset supports dual camera setup up to 13MP + 13MP sensors. The Redmi Pro is also the most affordable Xiaomi smartphone to use the OLED panel. Though Xiaomi is working on the Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI, we can’t expect the Redmi Pro 2 to come with Nougat out of the box.
Since Xiaomi is yet to officially announce the Redmi Pro 2, take these details with a pinch of salt. Last year’s Redmi Pro came with a brushed metal body sporting 5.5-inch Full HD display. While the 3GB RAM variant uses Helio X20 deca-core processor, the 4GB RAM variant came with slightly powerful Helio X25 processor. It is available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. Talking about the camera, there are 13MP and 5MP sensors on the rear with dual tone LED flash, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture. For selfies, there is a single 5MP sensor on the front with f/2.0 aperture that can even record videos at Full HD resolution.
The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8 out of the box. It comes with a 4,050mAh non-removable battery and supports fast charging with the USB Type-C port. It also featured the front facing home button that comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The upcoming Redmi Pro 2 might also come with the same specifications as on its predecessor, expect the processor and camera sensors. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the Xiaomi smartphones.
