Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ launched with 38% Faster speed than Quick Charge 3

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Qualcomm introduced their iteration of Fast Charging dubbed the Quick Charge well in advance than any other manufacturer picked it up. Later on, as we saw more and more manufacturers coming up with their iterations of the Fast-charge technology, Qualcomm stood tall and kept updating its own module. And here we are today, with Qualcomm announcing their fifth iteration of the same called the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. What has changed? Well, of course, the charging speeds!

One of the most interesting aspects of this new iteration is that the manufacturers can simply implement this on the existing chipsets. Yes, there is no need for a new chipset altogether. We now have something called as Dual Charge, Intelligent Thermal Balancing and Advanced Safety Features. Dual Charge is something which we already know and it is the same, except that it is more powerful now. The Intelligent thermal balancing makes sure that the temperatures are kept below the suggested levels and finally the Advanced Safety Features will make sure that both the device as well the charger is not overheating.

Samsung & Qualcomm are Already Working on the Next-gen Snapdragon 845 Platform

Now coming to some numbers, Qualcomm claims that the devices that will implement this standard cab be charged upto 15 times faster than that of the previous one. And not just that, it will also be upto 30-percent more efficient. This is a really good news for those who are used to charging from a battery pack, etc. And coming to the temperatures, it looks like the charging will also be upto 3-degrees cooler.

Do give you some perspective on how far the Quick Charge technology has come, we did a small calculation and found the new Quick Charge 4+ to be upto 38-percent faster than the Quick Charge 3 from two years ago. Yes, if you are using a smartphone that charges through Quick Charge 3.0, then you already know how fast this is going to be. It is safe to say that battery hoggers are definitely in for a treat. And now if you are wondering if the existing devices will get this new technology just via a software upgrade, then sadly the answer is no.

The reason for the same is because all the new enhancements which we have this time around are all hardware related and there is nothing that developers can do via the software. Hence, going forward, new devices that are launching will come with this new technology with the Nubia Z17 being the first one to be confirmed to sport this Quick Charge 4+. Well, if you are interested in knowing more about other devices to come with this new technology, then we suggest you stay tuned to PhoneRadar for the same.
