Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone (SM-N935S) Spotted on GeekBench

The refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been rumored to launch in select markets for a long time now. We have been hearing about it since months after the initial mishap happened. However, it looks like we are close to the launch since the device has now been spotted on GeekBench website as well. The refurbished Galaxy Note 7 has been spotted on GeekBench sporting the model number SM-N935S. Taking a look at the specs that is listed in the Geekbench listing, we see a similar hardware internally.

According to the GeekBench listing, it looks like this new variant is powered by the same Exynos 8890 SoC. This is coupled with 4GB of RAM which is again same as what we saw with the original Galaxy Note 7. Sadly since GeekBench doesn’t test batteries on the smartphone, we can’t confirm if the previously rumored 3,200 mAh battery is what we will be seeing inside this. However, one major difference which we noticed in this new variant is the software.

The original Galaxy Note 7 was running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box whereas the new variant which has now been spotted on GeekBench is running on Android 7.0 Nougat. Considering the fact that the original Note 7 was never updated to Android Nougat, it is highly possible that Oneplus will launch this with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. This is expected to be identical to the software which is currently running on Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.

As far as the naming of this refurbished unit is concerned, it looks like it will either be named as Galaxy Note 7R/FE. As far as the availability goes, it has been reported that it will be sold in China, South Korea along with a bunch of Asian markets. However, the confirmed that it won’t be selling it in the U.S or any other western markets. As far as the availability date is concerned, we hope it will be launched soon since the company has to launch the Galaxy Note 8 by the end of the year as well. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
