Samsung Commits to “Make In India”, invests Rs 4915 Crore in India

“Make in India” is one of the most popular initiatives which most of the manufacturers are adopting now. Talking about the smartphone manufacturers who are onboard this initiative, we already have Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple, etc. Xiaomi is already manufacturing phones in India and so is Samsung. If you want to know if your device is manufactured in India, then all you have to do is look up for a Make in India tag or sticker on the box.

Speaking of Samsung manufacturing phones in India, the company the company has just announced an investment of Rs. 4,915 crore in India. According to the new reports which we have, the company has made this investment in India to apparently add fresh capacity at its Noida Plant. This is the plant where the company manufactures smartphones, refrigerators and even flat panel televisions that they sell here in the country.

Samsung appears to stay committed to both “Make in India” initiative for Government of India as well as its own “Make for India” program. Well if you don’t know what Make for India program is, it is a program which is aimed at making products that are targetted towards the Indian consumers. Samsung has been manufacturing in India quite a few years now. They have a total of two manufacturing plants in India out of which the one in Noida is the first one. It was set up in the early 90s and was one of the first electronics manufacturing facilities to be set up in the country.

As a part of this investment, the company has now expanded the plant with an additional 35 acres of land adjacent to it. This is expected to double the production capacity of the refrigerators as well as the mobile phones. The same was inaugurated with the presence of ministers and higher officials. Just like every other “Make in India” project, this is also expected to generate thousands of new jobs in the country which is always a good sign.
