Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to ship with an Infinity Display & Android 7.1.1, No Android O
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Samsung is now gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone which is expected to happen sometime in the month of September. We are sure the company will make sure that everything goes right with this variant since the last one ended up exploding out of nowhere. And as we all know, the Note series of smartphones comes packed with features. On the same lines, we have some new reports which confirm some of the important specs of the smartphone.
Ever since the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus launched, the expectations from the Note 8 went skyrocketing. And one of the most popular features of the Galaxy S8 which many are expecting on the Note 8 is the Infinity Display. The Galaxy S8 has a smaller footprint and it still looks stunning with the Infinity display and hence we can only imagine how good it will look on the Note 8 with the larger form factor. The source claims that the size will go up to 6.3″ which is again larger than the Galaxy S8 Plus as well.
At the same time, the aspect ratio of the display is also expected to change this time around and it looks like we will be seeing the same 18.5:9 as seen with the Galaxy S8 smartphones. Now the only thing which remains to be seen is the display’s resolution since that will also change. It would be interesting to see if we get a 4K display out of the box. And since we are talking about the display, let’s just say that we could also see a fingerprint scanner embedded on the display of the Note 8 itself, instead of having it at the back.
Now coming to an interesting point which is about the software. Most of you might be expecting the Note 8 to come with Android O out of the box since it is launching later in the year and Galaxy S8 already came out with Nougat. However, it looks like we will be stuck with Android 7.1.1 for the Note 8 as well. This, however, makes a lot of sense. The Android O is expected to debut with Google Pixel event later in the month of October which is about a month later than what the Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s date is expected to be. And with that said, it looks like Note 8 buyers will have to wait for the software to roll out later in some date.
Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this. Does the fact that the Note 8 won’t ship with Android O bothers you? Be sure to let us know what do you think and also, stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info like this.
