samsung galaxy s7 edge smartphone

Samsung always tries to stay as top manufacturer among Android-based devices. That’s the reason it always launches a wide variety of smartphones into the market. Recently, we have seen the launch of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones into the market where both the Android devices come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.

Samsung never neglects its old devices as recently we also seen the Marshmallow updates for Samsung Galaxy S6 devices too. But as far as Android devices are considered, there seem to be some issues in them after using for few months. Almost all the Android users report us for performance and other issues after few months of usage. And now, we are being received few complaints from the new Galaxy S7 Edge owners that the device is not responding at all.
So, to fix this crashing issue, we made few workouts on our S7 Edge device and found out few solutions to resolve the issue.

Reboot the Device

The first thing you can try to fix the crashing issue is to restart the device. This will help in closing any unfinished processes and so solves the non-responding issue.

  • Press and hold power and Volume down button simultaneously at the same time for 7 to 8 seconds.
  • Now, the device starts vibrating which will eventually turn off and starts rebooting.

That’s all; now the device will turn on and so start using the phone normally. By now, the issue should be resolved and if not you can try the next solution.

Reboot the device into Safe Mode

Usually, the crashing and the non-responding issue may arise due to the abnormal functionality of specific app on the device. Most of the times, it will be the third-party app which causes these issues. So, we need to find out whether that may be the reason or not. For that, you need to turn on your device into safe mode.

  • Keep the phone on and, press and hold the Power key.
  • After few seconds, you will see ‘Samsung Galaxy S7 EDGE’ on the screen.
  • Now, release the power key and hold the volume down key.
  • Keep holding the volume down key until the device gets rebooted and release it once you see ‘Safe mode’ on the bottom left corner of the screen.

That’s all; now you are in the safe mode and in here, you cannot access the third-part apps. So, use the phone for some time and if the issue is resolved, then the third-party app is the culprit. So, now exit the safe mode and restart the device. Find out which app is causing the trouble by opening each app and uninstall it immediately.
If the problem isn’t resolved by now, then you have to perform a factory reset.

Perform Factory Reset

Factory reset will erase everything from your device and makes it a new device. So, take a back up of the data before proceeding further. Also, do not restore the data immediately after the factory reset as it may bring back the issue. So, it’s better to use the device for some time and then restore the data if needed.

  • Turn off your Galaxy S7 Edge device.
  • Press and hold Volume up and home buttons along with the power button at the same time.
  • Release only power key after seeing ‘Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’ on the screen.
  • You can release home and volume up keys once you see the Android logo on the screen.
  • Now, select and confirm ‘wipe data/factory reset’ using the volume and power buttons.
  • Then select and confirm, ‘Yes – delete all user data’ and wait for some time.
  • Now go for ‘Reboot system Now’ and press power button for confirmation.

Once done, the phone gets rebooted, and all you have is the whole new Galaxy S7 Edge in your hands. By now, the crashing and non-responding issue have to be resolved.

Few other Solutions

Before performing the factory reset, you can also try by performing clear app cache and wipe cache partition. To clear the app cache, you need to open each app from the app manager and should tap on ‘Clear cache’. For wipe cache partition, get your phone into recovery mode as explained in the factory reset process. In here, select and confirm ‘Wipe cache partition’ and after the process is finished go for ‘Reboot system now’.

Additionally, try disabling/uninstalling all the pre-installed apps on the device as this may resolve the issue. Avoid using widgets and wallpapers on the device as it may over-load the processor and may result in hanging of the phone.

So, by now we assume your device is free from the crashing and non-responding issue. If not, then consult any expert/technician for the solution.
