OPPO is now the fourth largest smartphone brand globally which is above the Lenovo and Xiaomi. The company had launched smartphones with good build quality and decent specifications. It also had a good offline presence in the world’s top two largest smartphone markets, China and India. The recently launched OPPO R9 and R9 Plus are a huge hit in its home country.

It had launched the OPPO R9 as OPPO F1 Plus in India and few other Asian countries where it was well received in their respective markets. OPPO is also said to be working on a foldable display tablet. Now a new mid-range smartphone called as OPPO A59 is certified by TENAA; it will be the successor for the last years OPPO A53. The design of the device looks similar to the OPPO R9 and also includes the physical home button that was missing on the entry-level OPPO A37.

The device comes with a 2.5D 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display, same as the Oppo A53. It is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core processor and we expect it to be Snapdragon 617 SoC. While the A53 came with 2GB of RAM, it is now bumped upto 3GB on A59. The internal storage on the device is of 16GB and can be expandable upto 128GB via MicroSD card slot.

It still runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with customised Color OS overlaid. On the camera part, it comes with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front camera. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE with VoLTE. It is backed by a 2,980mAh battery and might give a maximum of a single day of usage. There is no information about the VOOC flash charging support.

The device measures 154.5 x 76 x 7.3 mm and weighs 160 grams. As seen with the OPPO R9 and R9 Plus, the A59 will also be available in Gold and Rose Gold colour options. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It is expected to be launched in the next few weeks in China. Stay tuned for more details!
