OPPO’s Foldable Smartphone with Large Display Resembles a Flip Phone
Oppo has performed extremely well this year and has entered into the list of top 5 brands of the world. They recently launched the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus, which sold in great numbers & that has been one of the reasons for its huge success this year. Now, the company is said to be working on a device with a foldable display. Recently, a prototype of the device with foldable design have surfaced online but the size reminds more of the tablet rather than smartphone. If you have already heard of a similar concept, you could be referring to the Samsung Galaxy X that’s expected to launch next year.
The device comes with a bendable display with a thin joint in between that separates the upper and lower side and makes it look more like a flip phone. The size of the device is also quite big and will be difficult to carry in the pockets even if it is folded. The image also shows a front-facing camera for selfie images. Apart from this, we have no idea about any specifications about the upcoming smartphone since it’s just this photo that’s available & that’s hinting on what’s next from OPPO. From these photos, we can expect that this could be a phablet-sized tablet rather than a phone that could be folded into half but the use case is still confusing & if its thin like a simple display then it does make some sense.
The product could actually see the light because we have already seen the brand focusing on interesting concept’s that actually work. If you recall they had also launched some fast charging options under their VOOC Flash Charge that’s expected in the OnePlus 3. The brand has also been innovating & has already seen a great success in India with their F Selfie Series Smartphones. Don’t forget that this brand is a part of the BBK Electronics.
Recently, we had covered about Samsung working on a foldable smartphone that will be called as Samsung Galaxy X. A Chinese smartphone maker, Moxi is also set to launch a bendable smartphone with black & white display and is expected to cost around 5000 Yuan. LG is also in works of a smartphone called LG G Flex 3 that is expected to be unveiled at IFA 2016. At this time, we cannot even confirm whether the Oppo device will be available for users or not. Stay tuned for more updates!
