Earlier this month, we had exclusively covered about the world’s first smartphone to run on Tencent OS 2.0 from InFocus to launch today. And the company came up with the InFocus S1 with very some high-end specifications and decent build quality at a very aggressive price of just 999 Yuan (approx $151 / Rs. 10,200). It is built out of Aluminum Magnesium alloy and will be available only in Gold Colour. It runs on the recently announced TencentOS 2.0 (a.k.a TOS 2.0) based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution display with a 2.5D glass on top. Under the hood, the InFocus S1 is powered by Helio P10 (MediaTek MT6755M) octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. It includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage that can be expanded upto another 128GB via MicroSD card slot. The Hi-Fi audio on this device is taken card by the Texas Instrument’s TAS2555 chip.

The device features a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture andPDAF that can focus in just 0.2 seconds. On the front is an 8MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 84.4-degree wide-angle lens for perfect selfies. It comes with dual SIM dual standby support and offers 4G LTE for faster data speeds. The InFocus S1 is backed by a 2,900mAh battery that also supports fast charging, but somehow the company is shipping only the non-fast charging adapter.

It measures 153.5 x 76.1 x 7.9 mm and weighs 152 grams. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. On the back of the device, we can also find the fingerprint sensor sitting just below the primary camera. It might be also used for Tencent’s TenPay mobile payment network. The device is available to pre-booking until June 12th, and the open sales start from June 13th.

The company is also offering screen guard and protective case for the early adopters. Talking about the Tencent OS, it has been on many smartphones like Alibaba’s YunOS. While the Alibaba invested Meizu is the major manufacturer to launch smartphones with YunOS, Tencent doesn’t have many partnerships. Last year ZTE launched its smartwatch “Axon Watch” running on TOS.

Tencent also invested $23 million in the world’s popular Android ROM maker Cyanogen Mod. As of now, we won’t see the Tencent OS powered device launching in the international markets. Since YunOS announced to enter the Indian smartphone market, we may also see Tencent following the same step. Stay tuned for more updates!
