Every Year, Google announces its smartphones running their latest pure stock Android software versions towards the end. Now this year, yet again, the company is expected to launch two new smartphones to their Nexus line-up. Last year, the two Nexus devices were manufactured by two different OEMs. Huawei made the more premium and bigger version called the Nexus 6P, and LG manufactured the more pocket-friendly and smaller version called the Nexus 5X.

According to some previous rumors, this year we will probably see the two Nexus devices manufactured by HTC. Yes, it is said that there will be two Nexus devices again this year, one being the smaller version and other comparatively bigger. HTC will manufacture both of them. We are expecting the smaller version to be more affordable and pack comparatively less power than the bigger one.

According to the rumor, the smaller of the two version is said to feature a 5-inch 1080p display. It will be powered by a Quad-Core 2.0 GHz 64-bit processor for which the exact model number is unknown, and this processor will be coupled with a 4GB of RAM. According to the source, we will have a 32GB of onboard storage option. We are not sure if this is the base version, or multiple storage options will be available. On the camera side, we will see a 12-megapixel rear facing camera and an 8-megapixel front facing selfie shooter.

In terms of other hardware specification, we will have a USB Type-C connector at the bottom along with the speakers. At the top, there will be a headphone jack. The fingerprint scanner is here to stay at the back of the device dubbed “Nexus Imprint”. The two rumored HTC Nexus devices are named as Marlin(M1) and Sailfish(S1). Google has a long history of naming Nexus devices after aquatic life, the current 5X and 6P are Bullhead and Angler, respectively. The Nexus 6 was Shamu. The Nexus 5 was Hammerhead, and so on.

Previously, the Sailfish and Marlin were called T50 and T55 respectively, and it was said that the smaller version will come with a 5-inch display. It makes sense to feature a smaller screen size on one phone and feature a bigger, maybe QuadHD resolution display on the other smartphone. It will also consume less power which is good as the smaller Nexus is expected to come with a 2770mAh battery.

At this point, we don’t have any information on the availability of the device or the pricing details. We are also not sure if this will come with multiple storage options with more RAM etc. Stay tuned for more updates.
