YouTube Livestream for Mobile coming soon to Creators Worldwide
YouTube announces a new feature that will allow users to broadcast live videos from their mobile devices with the touch of a button. This option will be added to its mobile app so that users can take advantage of this feature easily without having to download another app separately. The app interface is very similar to the Periscope’s interface, with viewer comments scrolling up the screen over the broadcast. Periscope is another live streaming app that was launched by Twitter.
YouTube claims that it’s existing infrastructure give it an advantage over the competitors, as the users will be able to search live broadcasts just as they can search recorded videos. So basically, there is no need for a new platform, no separate service or a separate account. It will be as easy as hitting the record button, setting a thumbnail for the clip and sharing the moment with the entire world or with your close friends.
These Live streams will also show up in your recommendation and playlist menu. The company is one of the pioneers of the whole live streaming trend. It was already broadcasting events back in the days of 2011. It also broadcasted the first ever 360-degree video of a live concert experience. But those were limited to official YouTube live streaming which was controlled and distributed them. But live streaming is more fun these days when it is given access to the users. That’s what the company is looking to do here. Providing access to this feature will enable creators to come up with entertaining feeds sharing with their subscribers quickly.
Facebook is also investing heavily in the live-streamed video. The company is paying celebrities and publishers to produce live broadcasts that appear in user news feeds. ZTE Axon 7 smartphone was launched live on Facebook on 26th May. YouTube claims that its live streams will also be “faster and more reliable than anything else out there.” YouTube hasn’t given a date for YouTube Live feature’s arrival, but in the meantime, only a few selected channels have access to this feature.
YouTube is launching the feature today at VidCon with five selected publishers- The Young Turks, AIB, Plaice Polinesia, SacconeJolys, and Alex Wassabi but promises to roll it out more widely soon. Subscribe to our YouTube channel for live unboxings and live tests once the feature goes gets available to everyone.
