LeEco & Xiaomi buying Dual-Camera Modules from Samsung for upcoming Smartphones
Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi and LeEco could soon be ready for their new smartphone launch with dual camera modules. Almost all the manufacturers want to implement this module, and we have already seen a variety of smartphones with this feature like the Huawei P9 and the LG G5. According to the latest information, a division of Samsung will be supplying Xiaomi and LeEco with dual camera modules to implement on their upcoming smartphones. The South Korean Manufacturer Samsung, continues to excel on multiple market segments.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics division is said to provide dual camera modules to Xiaomi Mi 5s. Apart from Xiaomi, Samsung is also said to be supplying the modules to LeEco, the former LeTv company. The company just launched its flagship smartphones for 2016 and is expected to launch more devices throughout the year or in early 2017. LeEco is also planning to enter US market later this year. It would be of the best interest of the company to enter a new market with a fresh bunch of smartphones with new and exciting features to attract more attention from the consumers.
Samsung is also set to supply the dual camera modules to Oppo. Oppo is the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, selling 18.5 million units in Q1 2016. According to analysts, by supplying dual camera modules to other manufacturers, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is reducing its dependency on Samsung Electronics. According to reports, total 61.8% of total sales of the firm depended on the parent company. But interestingly, even though the company is supplying the modules, as a manufacturer, it is yet to implement the dual camera module on its own smartphones.
With that being said, the company might just implement the module in its next flagship device for 2017, the Galaxy S8. Note that; Samsung is also expected to announce their new phablet Note 7 in the Note series later this year. However, we don’t have any rumors pointing towards a possibility of that smartphone sporting a dual camera module. But again, we don’t have any confirmation on the specifications of the device, so we just have to wait and see what the company has in store for us.
