Best Upcoming Smartphones of July 2016 – Expected Specs & Features
In the next few weeks, we will be seeing few smartphones debuting the Chinese market which will be later launched in the international markets. A couple of the devices that are already launched earlier may be available in few selected markets in the month of July. Though we know the specifications of most of these devices, we need to wait for the official launch for the local pricing of those devices. The brands that have already announced the launch dates most probably make them available in the same month, but we can’t guarantee that. Honor will be launching its latest flagship smartphone Honor 8 on July 11th in China. The device comes with metal frame and 2.5D glass on front and back. The Honor 8 will be the third smartphone under Honor brand to feature the dual rear camera setup; earlier the company had launched Honor 6 Plus and Honor V8 smartphone. It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by Kirin 950/955 octa-core processor. The new device sports 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box wth EMUI 4.1 UI overlaid.
The Honor 8 features a 12MP dual rear cameras along with laser autofocus and LED flash. The Honor V8 and Huawei P9 also came with the same 12MP dual rear cameras. On the front is an 8MP sensor for capturing selfies. The device is kept powered on by a 2,900mAh non-removable battery. It measures 145.5 x 71 x 7.45 mm and weighs 153 grams. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 25,000 price range. In the coming months, it will be launched in other important markets including selected Asian and European countries.
Lenovo had recently launched all new Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphone. There are rumors about the third device Moto Z Play also to be made official soon. The company also brought many modular parts called Moto Mods which can be attached magnetically to the back panel with the help of 16-pin setup. The Moto Z and Moto Z Force are the almost similar, but the Moto Z misses the Shattershield display as on Moto Z Force. Both the devices sport a 5.5-inch QuadHD display and includes Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM.
On the other hand, the Moto Z Play is rumored to have a smaller display and features Snapdragon 652 SoC & 3GB of RAM. Till date, the official pricing of the device or the Moto Mods aren’t revealed, but the leaks suggest the Moto Mods cost as high as $200. Since the devices are said to be made available in the next few weeks, we can see how aggressive the company will go with the pricing of the device. While the Moto Z are said to replace Moto X series, there is unofficial confirmation from the company the Moto X 2016 devices to be launched later this year.
The latest Zenfones from Asus are said to be available in the local markets starting from the second week of July. Asus had officially unveiled the Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, and Zenfone 3 Ultra at the Computex 2016 in Taiwan in May. Now the latest sources suggest that the device will be available starting from July 12th in Taiwan and from August 4th in India. As of there is no official confirmation about the launch date or any other details about the availability of these devices in the western markets.
Unlike the polycarbonate body on the last years Zenfone 2 devices, the Zenfone 3 Line up comes with glass and metal bodies. The Zenfone 3 has a glass body with a metal frame while the Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 Ultra has the unibody metal body. Talking about the pricing, the Zenfone 3 starts from $249 while the Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 Ultra starts from $499 and $479 respectively. We need to wait till the official launch on August for the local pricing of the devices in India.
Samsung is rumored to launch its next-gen Galaxy Note on August 2nd, and it will be named Galaxy Note 7 instead of Galaxy Note 6. Just like the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge, we may also see the Galaxy Note 7 & Note 7 Edge. Earlier the Galaxy Note Edge launched in 2014 is the first Galaxy Note device to feature Edge display. It is said to feature 5.7-inch Quad HD display while the Note 7 Edge has the dual edge display. The device includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot.
It runs on the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box with the refreshed TouchWiz UI overlaid. Interestingly, the company is also making the device waterproof and dustproof with the IP68 certification. The Galaxy Note 7 & Note 7 Edge will also be the first Samsung smartphones to feature USB Type-C port. It has the fingerprint sensor integrated into the physical home button on the front. The rumored IRIS scanner will also be available on these devices for making them a bit more secure.
