Weekly Wrap-Up #20 : Honor 5C, Moto G4, OPPO A37, Galaxy Note 7, Cavas Fire 5 & More….
The latest wrap-up covering all the announcements and updates from the last week is here. Unlike the last few weeks, there are very less number of launches happened. While there are a couple of launches from Indian manufacturers, none of them offered some good value for money specs. Even there is not even a single international launch except the Honor 5C. Few of the devices that are already launched in China are made available in India last week. Below are the recently launched devices with pricing and specifications details.
Honor has officially launched its latest smartphone Honor 5C in India and European markets. The device sports with an all-metal body and is priced at £149/€199 in Europe and Rs. 10,999 in India. The device launched in Europe missed the fingerprint sensor while rest of the specifications remains same. It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display and includes the Kirin 650 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The Honor 5C packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via MicroSD card slot. There is also a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery. It comes in Gold & Grey colors and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 overlaid.
The upcoming Galaxy Note is unofficially confirmed to be named as Note 7 instead of Note 6. The company shifted to Note 7 to match up with the Galaxy S7 naming instead of confusing the users. It is expected to be made official in August at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The Note 7 is said to feature dual edge display just the Galaxy S7 Edge, while 2014 launched Galaxy Note Edge came with an edge display but only on right side. It will be the first device from Samsung to offer 6GB of RAM. As the leaks suggest, the Note 7 comes with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution. For the making the device even more secure, the company will offer IRIS scanner along with the fingerprint sensor.
Last month, Lenovo had officially announced the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus in the Indian market. While the Moto G4 Plus is already on sale at Rs, 13,499 for 2GB RAM and Rs. 14,999 for 3GB RAM variant. Last week, we got the pricing and the availability details of the Moto G4. It was priced at Rs. 12,499 and is already on sale exclusively through Amazon India. The design looks same as the Moto G4 Plus but misses the fingerprint sensor and laser autofocus. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD display and includes Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor. There is only 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. On the camera front, it sports a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and a 5MP front camera. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
OPPO‘s recently launched OPPO F1 Plus (a.k.a OPPO R9) had been the popular device popular mid-range device. It comes with a premium build quality and is priced very aggressively when compared to budget devices. Now the company has launched the new OPPO A37, which will be available in starting from July 1st. It is priced at Rs. 11,990 but comes with a 5-inch HD display and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6750 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based ColorOS 3.1 and includes dual SIM slots with 4G LTE support. There is an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 2630mAh battery. It measures just 7.6mm thickness and weighs only 136 grams.
The Indian smartphone brand, Intex announced its latest affordable Aqua Sense 5.1 smartphone. It is priced at Rs. 3,999 and comes with very basic specifications. The connectivity on this device is limited to just 3G HSPA, while the LYF Flame 4 and Flame 6 priced at the same Rs. 3,999 offers 4G LTE with VoLTE support. It has a 5-inch WVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display and packs a Spreadtrum SC7731 quad-core processor clocked at 1..2GHz. There is just 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. In the camera department, it has a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. The Aqua Sense 5.1 can easily last more than of usage with the included 2,500mAh battery.
Unlike the Intex Aqua Sense 5.1, the Canvas Fire 5 comes with better specifications even at a higher price tag. It is priced at Rs. 6,199 and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The device is priced at 5.5-inch HD IPS display and comes powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expandable via MicroSD card slot. On the camera front, there is an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Canvas Fire 5 is kept powered on by a 2,500mAh battery. Though the device comes with competitive specifications, it misses the 4G LTE connectivity.
Earlier this year, LeEco had launched their latest Superphones Le 2, Le 2 Pro, and Le Max 2; but only the Le 2 and Le Max are made available in India. Now the latest rumors suggest the company to launch the Le Max 2 Pro with 8GB of RAM and upgraded Snapdragon 821 chipset.While Antutu has posted, the specifications screenshot suggesting the device to include just 4GB of RAM. According to the leaked images, the device comes with the same design as Le Max 2 but additionally come in Blue and Red colors. The 21MP rear camera sensor might be upgraded to 25MP resolution. The Snapdragon 821 Soc is the upgraded version of Snapdragon 820 which is slightly overclocked. Since there are no details, we need to wait until June 29th for the official specifications.
At the HTC 10 launch event, the company announced the Desire 630 to be launched soon in the Indian market. Last week, it was made available in the market at a price of Rs. 14,990. At such a high price, the device packs years old specifications. It has a 5-inch HD Super LCD display and is powered by Snapdragon 400 processor. There is 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded further upto 2TB. It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. On the front, we can find the Boomsound speakers with Dolby audio support. The Desire 630 was unveiled at the MWC 2016 alongside the Desire 825 and Desire 530 smartphones.
