How to Install Paranoid Android Custom ROM on OnePlus 3 Smartphone – Tutorial
OnePlus is on the roll from the last week as the company has been getting a positive response from the industry experts out there. Though there VR launch was a total bust; we so far think they have done a commendable job when compared with the OnePlus 2. Now after thoroughly using the features on the new OnePlus 3, we still think that Oxygen OS could have been much better. After the Cyanogen partnership had fallen off the wagon last year, it was quite wise of the company to develop their own ROM.
But the power users who loved those features on specially designed CyanogenMod ROM for OnePlus One misses the good old days. Well, Cyanogen Inc is not coming back on a OnePlus device anytime soon after the controversy, but you might want to try out this custom ROM popularly named as Paranoid Android. As the developers at PA, as they would like to be called in the community has developed a Custom ROM for OnePlus 3, and it’s right out of the oven for you.
Below instructions will guide you in installation procedure for Paranoid Android 6.0.1 Based AOSP for OnePlus 3.
Pre-requisites:
You will have to wipe the system data if you’re flashing this ROM from another ROM, or even stock Android. It includes apps, accounts, messages and call logs. Though, note that internal storage data doesn’t need to be wiped. But we recommend you take up a backup of your call logs, accounts, apps, as well as things stored on internal storage.
Another thing that you have to take care before you get started is that download GAPPS, i.e. Google Apps package on your device, according to the platform, Android version, and variant. Make sure you have the Zip file of Paranoid Android ROM downloaded and saved on your smartphone before you start following the below instructions.
Download Zip Files: ROM Zip and GAPPS
Note: ROM zip file and GAPPS zip file should be saved on your smartphone’s internal storage.
Instructions To Install Paranoid Android Custom ROM on OnePlus 3
- Boot the device into recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up, as well as pressing and holding the Power button, all at the same time.
- Select the Wipe data and cache. It will wipe basically everything except internal storage.
- As the data is wiped, a new set of options will be shown. Select Install from zip menu and then select the right ROM zip file, i.e. (pa_bacon_6.x..).
- Once the file has been added to install queue, TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) will prompt to add more zip file. Right, then you should select GAPPS package downloaded on the phone.
- Now as you swipe the bar on the bottom, the zip files will be installed. Thus, began the flashing.
You have to be patient as it takes the time to install the zip files. - Once the installation is complete, the system will reboot automatically.
- Setup your device and you’re ready to use the Paranoid Android on your OnePlus 3.
