Whatsapp to allow Apple iPhone users to send Live Photos as GIF’s
Whatsapp has been introducing several new features this year. Earlier the company came up with the standalone desktop app, end-to-end encryption, file sharing, and many more. Recently @WABetaInfo reported that the beta version 2.16.7.1 for iOS supports the GIF-sharing. While the other instant messaging app like Facebook’s Messenger, WeChat, and Line already has GIF support.
Though there is no is official information regarding the public update, the latest translations hint the update for iOS app can happen anytime soon. Even the video call option is believed to be available first for iOS users while the last year, the voice call feature was released for Android devices. With the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, Apple introduced the Live Photo options which capture a little six seconds videos while capturing the image.
With the latest iOS update, Apple introduced this new features for other iPhones without 3D Touch. Now the upcoming Whatsapp update allows the users to share the Live Photos as either GIFs or normal images. Instead of pinch to zoom, the future updates have the slide to zoom feature which makes the app easier to use even with single hand. By sliding up in the camera app allows zooming in and sliding down to zoom out.
As of now, there is no information when the GIF support will be integrated into the Android app. Recently, Whatsapp announced that the Voice call feature that was announced last year has been a huge success. According to the numbers mentioned by Whatsapp, there are 100 million voice calls made in just one day, which is 1,100 calls per second. The video call feature will also be official available in the next few months.
