Apple’s new Clips app helps you create expressive videos on iOS

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Apple announced a bunch of new products yesterday like the new iPads models and an all new Limited Edition RED iPhone 7 models. However, along with this new hardware, the company also announced a new app called ‘Clips.’ It is an iOS app which is essentially a video editor, and it will help users create a mix of video clips, images, sound, etc. The resultant footage can then be shared via iMessage or social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Talking about the app itself, it is not a social media platform by itself, and it is not here to compete with any other network out there. It is simply an app that lets you create fun and expressive videos which can then be shared with your friends and family. It looks like the app was made keeping short video clips in mind and it offers a wide variety of options to play around with. Most people have the opinion that it is a toned down mobile version of iMovie.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Apps Product Marketing, says that this new app gives the iPhone and iPad users a new way to create videos and it is incredibly easy to use. According to her, the build in filters, effects, and live tiles can let anyone make some great looking videos that can be instantly shared on social media platforms. The app has a very simple interface which should not take much time to get used to. Users can record videos or capture photos from within the app itself or, one can also import media from the Photos app, etc.

Talking about the interface, the main page looks very similar to that of Instagram with a square viewfinder to capture or library options below it to select the media. At the top, there are a bunch of customizing options for the video like Live Titles, Filters, Overlays, and Posters. At the bottom, there is a timeline which can be used to scrub through the clip. With that said, it does have a surprising amount of effects and filters in it and it should definitely make up for a fun video editing session.

Clips app will be available as a free app on the App Store starting April. The app will be compatible with all iPhone 5s and later, all iPad Air models, iPad Pro models, iPad Mini 2 and later as well as the iPod Touch 6th Gen. Hence compatibility wise, Apple has got you covered here regardless of which device you own. If you have anything older than this, then it is time that you plan an upgrade. With that said, b sure to let us know what do you think about this new app. Would you be interested in using it or do you like to post your videos unedited on social media?
