How do I port my number from Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, etc. to Reliance Jio 4G?

Reliance Jio is undoubtedly the most successful telecom service provider right now in the country, and it is much evident from the fact they just crossed 100 million subscribers. Most of the other services providers are also trying to hit the market hard with their aggressive tariff plans. However, it doesn’t seem to be working well for them. With that said, one of the most frequently asked question from our reader is ‘How to port from my Airtel/ Vodafone, etc. to Reliance Jio?’ Well, if you are wondering how to do it, then you are at the right place since we will show you exactly how to do it in this tutorial today.

In order to port from other service providers to Reliance Jio, you can use the MNP i.e. Mobile Number Portability. The steps for the same are given below –

• The first step which you need to do is send a text message to your current service provider requesting a port out.
• This message should be sent to 1900 from your current number, and it should read PORT.
• Post this, you will receive a Unique code which is called the Unique Porting Code from 1901.
• Do make a note that this unique porting code comes with a validity of 15 days only and hence you need to make sure that you look into it within that time.
• Once you have the porting code, simply head over to a mobile store and fill up the form for the same and provide the porting code as well.
• At this point, you will be asked to submit all the necessary documents.
• You will get your Reliance Jio SIM which you need to use once your SIM gets activated since the older one will be deactivated after that.

The new Reliance Jio SIM may take upto 7 days to get activated and also a nominal fee will be charged which you can confirm at the Reliance Store. Also, once you are ported to the Jio SIM, you will not be able to port back to the previous service provider or any other for at least 90 days. The procedure mentioned above remains the same for all the service providers like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, BSNL, etc.

Note – Once you send the port request, you might get calls from your current service providers where they might offer additional value-added offers to you in order to retain the subscriber. However, if you really want to port, then we suggest you clear all the bills and dues with your previous operator and proceed with the process.
