On the occasion of 10th anniversary of iPhone, Apple is rumored to launch three new iPhones for the first time. Two of them are expected to be the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus which succeeds the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Talking about the third device, it will be a special edition device that will be much more expensive than the already costlier iPhones. Now, we got some new information about the upcoming special edition device that is mentioned to be launched as iPhone 8. According to Wall Street Journal, the iPhone 8 will sport OLED display for the time which will be supplied by Samsung.
The earlier rumors suggested all the iPhones starting from 2017 to feature OLED panel. With the supplier issues, this year, the company will be limiting the OLED panel only to the expensive iPhone 8. While it is said to come with curved OLED panel, we can expect that to be dual curved display just like the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 7. The base variant of the iPhone 8 will be priced at $1000 (approx $67,000). With more manufacturers opting for USB Type-C port, Apple might also ditch the lighting port in favor of USB Type-C port.
Even the newly launched MacBook Pro’s also came only with the USB Type-C ports. The circular Touch ID fingerprint sensor which is responsible for the bigger bottom bezel will be also removed. Instead, the iPhone 8 comes with under the display fingerprint sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 5S is the world’s first smartphone to use this technology. It is based on Qualcomm’s Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Even the recently launched the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus also came with under the glass fingerprint sensor. Apple recently got the Patent for the integrating fingerprint sensor into the display.
The company might also go with the glass back body to offer wireless charging feature. However, this will be limited just to the special edition device. The IRIS feature is one more thing that rumors suggest the Apple will be offering on the iPhone 8. All these above mentioned information is based on the rumors, so take them with a pinch of salt until there is a confirmation. There will be two new iPad Pro’s replacing the last years 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pros. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more updates!
