The Moto G4 Plus is one of the best selling smartphones in 2016. It beats out the competition when comes to the camera performance. Though it packs decent specifications, the device came with a plastic back cover which is considered very rare at least at its price tag of Rs. 13,999. But at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress, the company came up with a perfect successor to the already popular Moto G4 Plus. The all new Moto G5 Plus comes with a metallic body and packs much better specifications than its predecessor. All these comes with a slightly higher price tag of Rs. 14,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB RAM variant.
It comes only in two color options – Lunar Gray and Fine Gold. The company also announced the ‘BuyBack Guarantee‘ program for the Moto G5 Plus where the user opted for it will get a fixed exchange rate of Rs. 8,999. The device has to be exchanged within the first 6 to 8 months from the date of purchase. To eligible for the fixed exchange rate, the user needs to purchase a smartphone priced higher than the exchange rate. The device along with the box contents like Charger and USB cable should be in good conditions. Talking about the device, it comes with an Aluminium built body and is the first Moto G to feature the metal body.
The device sports a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) offering a pixel density of 424 ppi and comes protected by Gorilla Glass 3 on top. It is powered by the 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU, this is the same processor that also powers the Moto Z Play. The Moto G5 Plus comes in two variants – 3GB RAM + 16GB Storage & 4GB RAM + 32GB Storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box without any bloatware apps and also features built-in Google Assistant. With the water repellent nano-coating, the device can sustain water splashes.
Coming to the camera department, there is a 12MP camera on the rear with dual pixel autofocus, f/1.7 aperture, and dual tone LED flash. On the front is a 5 MP selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture and wide-angle lens. It sports a front facing speaker embedded into the earpiece. The Moto G5 Plus measures 150.2 x 74.0 x 9.7 mm and weighs 155 grams. There is a dual SIM card slot that accepts two nano-SIMs. With all these specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 3000mAh non-removable battery. The company also offers the 15W TurboPower charger with the Moto G5 Plus that can give up to 6 hours of usage with just 15 minutes of charging.
The Google Photos app will be the default Galler app on this device. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
