Samsung Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8 Plus to Feature 6GB RAM Exclusively in China
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Samsung already confirmed to launch the new Galaxy S8 smartphones on March 29th in London. This year, the bigger variant of the upcoming flagship will be named as the Galaxy S8 Plus instead of Galaxy S8 Edge since both the variants will be featuring edge displays. The delayed production of the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC based on 10nm FinFET process also delayed the launch of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. The Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S7 are unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event, but this year, the company is holding a separate event that too almost one month after MWC 2017.
The devices launching in the U.S will use the Snapdragon 835 SoC, whereas, in Asia and Europe, they come with the Exynos 8895 SoC. Both these processors are built on the 10nm FinFET process and come with Gigabit LTE modems. Now, the latest information from China suggests the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus come with 6GB of RAM exclusively for the Chinese market. Earlier, the rumors suggested South Korea will also get the 6GB RAM variants. The Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to come with 6GB of RAM in China, but the company launched only the 4GB RAM variant.
The company already launched the 6GB RAM smartphone, Galaxy C9 Pro in China and India. The recent reports also mentioned the placement of the fingerprint sensor beside the rear camera on the Galaxy S8 smartphones as a last minute decision. The lack of progress in the technology is the only reason for not including the under screen fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will come with 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch screen sizes respectively. Based on the leaks, both these devices will be coming with a new Desktop Mode, that offers Windows Continuum like experience after connecting the devices to a monitor, keyboard and a mouse.
Since there is no official confirmation take these details with a pinch of salt. Though the new Galaxy S8 devices are expected to go on sale starting from April 21st, now the sale date is postponed until April 28th. They will be available in Silver, Black, Matte Black, Gold, Blue, and Pink color options. Samsung will be continuing to use the glass body which adds the wireless charging feature. Apart from that, the device will also be water and dust resistant. Since there is no physical home button, the company will be using on-screen navigation buttons instead of the capacitive buttons.
