Nubia Launches the Z17 Mini Smartphone in India, Priced higher than the Chinese variant

Last month, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Nubia launched the Z17 Mini smartphone in China. As the name suggests, this is a slightly toned down variant of the regular Z17 smartphone. While the smartphone was not available outside China, the company has now made it available in India. Yes, the company has now launched the Nubia Z17 Mini smartphone in India.

Talking about the specs of this smartphone, it all pretty much remains the same. We are looking at the same exact 5.2″ FHD display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC. However, what has changed is the pricing of the smartphone. In India, the Nubia Z17 Mini is priced at 19,999 INR. This is slightly higher than the Chinese pricing which was just 1699 Yuan which roughly translates to about 16,000 INR. Well, if you are interested in buying this smartphone, then you can get it exclusively via Amazon starting June 12th.

Earlier –Just after launching the Nubia N2, Nubia M2, and Nubia M2 Lite smartphones; Nubia now came up with a new smartphone called Nubia Z17 Mini. The company also launched its first 360-degree camera called Nubia NeoAir VR Camera. While the Nubia M2 is the company’s first smartphone to feature the dual-lens camera, now the Nubia Z17 Mini stands second with the same 13MP + 13MP dual camera setup. It comes in 4GB and 6GB of RAM variants priced at 1699 Yuan (approx $245 / Rs. 16,000) & 1999 Yuan (approx $290 / Rs. 19,000) respectively. The device will be available in Black Gold and Champagne Gold color options, though the Red color variant is also displayed on the images.

While the Nubia M2 became with the first Nubia smartphone to feature physical home button, with the Nubia Z17 Mini, the company reverted back to the red ring capacitive home button. The fingerprint is now placed on the rear of the device. The Nubia Z17 Mini comes with a smaller 5.2-inch In-cell display with Full HD (1920 x 0180 pixels) resolution and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. The 4GB RAM variant comes powered by Snapdragon 652 (MSM8976) octa-core processor, whereas the 6GB RAM variant packs Snapdragon 653 (MSM8976pro) octa-core processor.

Both the variants come with 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to additional 200GB using the MicroSD card slot. Talking about the USP of the device, we can find a 13MP IMX258 RGB sensor and a 13MP IMX258 Monochrome sensor on the rear with Sapphire glass lens and f/2.2 aperture. On the front is a 16MP selfie camera with 80-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. The Nubia Z17 Mini still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the Nubia UI 4.0 on top. It is backed by a 2,950mAh non-removable battery and support fast charging using the in-house NeoPower technology.

It measures 146.65 x 72.5 x 7.45 mm and weighs 155 grams. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. Connectivity options on this dual SIM phone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, 3.5mm Audio port, and a USB Type- C port. As it supports NFC, the Nubia Z17 Mini can be used for making payments via WeChat and AliPay. The device is currently available to pre-order, and the sales start on April 13th exclusively in China. As seen at many other Chinese launch events, there is no information about the global launch of the Nubia Z17 Mini.
