Apple iPhone 8 with 5.8″ OLED Display to Launch Alongside iPhone 7s & 7s Plus
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Apple started launching two variants of the iPhone starting with the iPhone 6, and now in 2017, we will be seeing three new iPhones. While there is no official information, the third device is rumored to be a special edition device to mark the 10th anniversary of iPhones. It is expected to be named as iPhone 8 and will sport a 5.8-inch OLED display. On the other hand, the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will replace the currently available iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Looking at the earlier updates by Apple, the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will feature the same design as their successors and might come with a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch displays respectively.
While the iPhone 8 comes with an OLED panel, the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will be still using LCD panels. However, all the iPhones from 2018 will use the OLED panels instead of regular LCD panels. According to Nikkei, the new iPhone 8 will be featuring edge-to-edge display and will skip using the regular Touch ID. Instead, the company might opt for the virtual home button with under the glass fingerprint sensor. Trusted Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities suggests the device to sports a revolutionary front facing camera that can capture 3D selfies and supports facial recognition to make the device secure.
We also hope to see further advancements in face recognization technology from Apple, as the current technology can’t be reliable in low light conditions and will be unable to recognize while wearing eyeglasses. The use of glass body for iPhone 8 will also bring the wireless charging feature to iPhone 8. While Samsung is offering this feature from last few years, LG recently introduced with its new flagship smartphone, LG G6. Coming to the iPhone 8, with all these new features, the base price tag will also jump from $700 to $1000. Unlike the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, the iPhone 8 might be made in lesser units as it will be more like a luxury device than the regular smartphone.
This year, we might be seeing Apple opting for USB Type-C port instead of the proprietary Lightning port. All the newly launched MacBook’s also came with only USB Type-C ports. Apart from the new iPhones, soon we will be seeing three new iPad Pro tablets replacing the older 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pros. Earlier KGI Securities mentioned Apple to launch 10-inch or 10.5-inch bezel-less iPad along with the 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 variants. However, Mac Otakara claimed the company to unveil a new 7.9-inch model whereas the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will now come with a smaller 12.5-inch display. Stay tuned for more updated about the upcoming Apple products.
