Google’s AI Assistant might eventually make its way to Apple’s iOS

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Google‘s AI assistant dubbed the Google Assistant is all set to serve more people now starting today as the service will be rolled out to nearly all Android smartphones running Android 6.0 or higher. This was a highly anticipated move by the company since limiting the Assistant to Pixel smartphones only doesn’t make any sense, over a certain point of time. While you all wait for the service to be available on your Android smartphone (provided that you are running Android 6.0 or higher), it looks like the service may eventually end up on Apple’s iPhone too.

Google product management director Gummi Hafsteinsson had a quick chat with the media at MWC 2017 in Barcelona where he expressed the possibility of the service being made available on iPhone. He said that although he didn’t have anything to announce at this point, Google’s general philosophy is to have Assistant available to as many people as possible. Well, what another way than making it available on iPhones which make up for a huge chunk of market share as far as smartphones are concerned.

Also, the idea of having the Google Assistant on iPhone doesn’t seem too far-fetched since we already have the Google Assistant on most other devices as well like Android TV, Android Wear and now on smartphones with Android 6.0 or higher. In fact, the Google Assistant is also available on iPhone now via the Google’s Allo app. So in a way, you can already try and use it and get the hang of it while Google cooks something up for you.

On the other hand, it is to be seen if the iOS users will adapt to or rather make a switch from Siri to Google Assistant. Siri works pretty well for the most part, and most of the iOS users are already using it on a large scale to get small things done. Most people like Google Assistant for a lot of reasons but the fact that Google Assistant is better than Siri or not is and will remain a debatable topic for a long time. We made a quick video showing Google Assistant vs. Siri head-to-head, and you might want to check that out –

Having said that, let us know what do you think about this idea? Would you switch from Siri to Google Assistant if given an option? Be sure to let us know and stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more details on this.
