iVoomi is the latest Chinese brand to enter the world’s second largest smartphone market, India. With the slowed down smartphone penetration in China, all most all the major Chinese brands choose the Indian market to showcase their strengths. While few brands are rooted in the offline market, the other brands limited their reach to the online shoppers. Talking about the new brand, it launches the iVoomi iv505 as their first smartphone in the Indian market. Instead of Amazon or Flipkart, the company has chosen Shopclues as their exclusive online retail partner.
Speaking at the launch, Bradley Yan, Global Business Head, iVoomi said,
“iVOOMi has established high-trust and credibility of consumers and clients globally through its path breaking innovation, customisation and high-quality services. We are committed to establishing iVOOMi in the Indian market with our innovative products loaded with highly valued SmartMe OS (Customized OS) & features at an affordable price. We are committed to continuously deliver better user experience at disruptive prices to the aspirational Indian consumers.”
The new iv505 is priced at just Rs. 3,999 and comes with decent specifications. However, we also have a few LYF Flame smartphones which are currently retailing at Rs. 2,999. Just like the LYF Flame smartphones, the iv505 also support 4G VoLTE to use the Jio 4G SIM with the newly announced Jio Prime membership. It comes with a polycarbonate shell and has thick bezels on all the four side of the display. The device comes with three capacitive buttons placed beneath the display for multitasking, home, and back (left to right). Interestingly, the volume rocker and power button are placed on the left edge.
It sports a 5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) display on the front. The device is powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and coupled with 1GB of RAM. There is also 8GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via MicroSD card slot. The iv505 also comes with 5MP cameras on front and back of the device, but only the rear camera comes with LED flash. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the customized SmartMe OS laid on top. The device is backed by a 3,000mAh battery that might easily last more than a day of usage with these low power specifications.
The iVoomi iv505 supports dual SIM dual standby and offers connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Apart from the iv505, soon the company might launch four new smartphones priced between Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 10,000. By the end of 2019, the iVoomi also plans to set up its own R&D center and manufacturing unit which most probably will just assemble the imported parts from China.
