Oukitel announces the U16 Max Phablet with 6″ HD Display & 4,000 mAh battery

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

It looks like it is a day of budget friendly options all over as we saw Sony announcing the Xperia L1 and Gionee launching the A1 here in India. And now Oukitel has announced a phablet called the U16 Max. This is a budget friendly offering from the company and taking a look at the specs; it seems to look like a decent offering for the price indeed. It is priced at $148.64. However, you can get it for an offer price of about $109.99 from AliExpress during the pre-sale. So is it really worth buying it for that price? Well, let’s see.

To begin with, the U16 Max measures 6.51 x 3.27 x 0.36 inches and weighs 222 grams. Hence if you thought that it comes with some bezel-less smaller footprint, then you are wrong. Now that the dimensions are out of the way let’s see what we are actually getting. It has a 6″ display on the front which may not sound like a lot considering the fact that most new smartphones are said to be coming with such a huge display. However, we are not really working with any bezel-less design here as mentioned earlier and hence it is indeed going to be quite big. The 6″ display has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, which is again not all impressive at all.

Under the hood is an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC with 1.5 GHz speed and it also has 3GB of RAM to keep with the speeds. Out of the box, it comes with 32GB of internal storage, but it is also expandable via a microSD card upto another 32GB for some added space. On the camera side of things, we have a 13MP main shooter with a f/2.0 aperture, and on the front, we have a 5MP selfie camera with a f/2.2 aperture. Keeping the lights on is a 4,000 mAh battery which is again not bad, but it is not all that great either. Most importantly, it runs Android 7.0 Nougat based custom skin.

The device will start shipping from 28th of March, and you can get yours now via during the pre-sale at a lower price. Be sure to let us know what do you think this? Would you be interested in buying a phablet of this size now or would you rather pick up a small sized phone? Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this and also stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info on this.
