Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 rugged smartphone announced with 2GB RAM & Android Nougat

The South Korean Giant has announced the successor of the Galaxy Xcover 3 which was launched almost two years ago. Dubbed as Galaxy Xcover 4, the new rugged device will be a water resistant device as it comes with IP68 certification that can withstand in water up to a depth of 1.5m for 30 minutes. It is also dustproof and comes with US Military Standard MIL-STD 810G to sustain falls from up to 1.2 meters. The handset will be available in Black color and is priced at 259 Euros (Approx Rs. 18,200, US$ 272).

The device is also capable of resisting low and high temperatures, intense sunlight, mechanical shocks, and vibrations. The device can also be operated with Gloves, and according to the reports the handset will come with 4.99-inch (1280 × 720 pixels) HD display, and we can also expect Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the top. There is a 2800mAh battery to power the Galaxy Xcover 4 which should be enough to last an entire day on normal usage.

Under the hood, there is a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 14nm processor coupled with 2GB RAM and Mali-T720 GPU. The handset will sport the latest Android 7.0 Nougat Operating system out of the box and is also IP67 certified as mentioned. On the camera front, it will feature a 13MP sensor on the rear with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture while it will be accompanied with a 5MP selfie camera. The device weighs just 172grams considering it as a rugged smartphone and will feature all the connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/GLONASS and NFC.

This handset from Samsung is a 4G variant which gives its users the luxury of getting accesses to fast data speeds and will come with all the sensors that are required for automation of the handset. The onboard memory on the device is 16GB which can be further extended with microSD card. The device will be available in Europe from April and nothing is mentioned about the global rollout yet.
