Google Officially Confirms Android O as Android 8.0 Oreo

After teasing for few months with unorthodox names, Google went back to Cadbury’s Oreo for the cute and sweet name for the next major Android version. From today, the all-new Android O is Android 8.0 Oreo. Though we would have loved to see Android O named after an Indian sweet, the Android Oreo sounds much better than Oatmeal Cookie or Orangina. Along with the name, Google also confirmed the version number to be Android 8.0. While we finally got the name for the next Android version, we still have to wait for few more weeks to get the public beta of the Android 8.0 Oreo.
As seen with the developer release, the public beta will be first available for selected Nexus and Pixel smartphones. Google has introduced several new features like PIP, new emojis, and faster boot times.
